FYI they use exactly the same technology. Laptop, desktop monitor and iPad all use LED backlit LCD screens. There maybe a difference on how we use these technologies. However I read text for hours on end on a laptop, and can't see any potential dangers at all. Same with reading text on an iPad. Refresh rates where only relevant for CRT monitors and not LCD. No one really uses CRT monitors these days. Too low a refresh rate and flicker is an issue here, with resulting fatigue and possible eye strain.

I am loving the Kindle.

subscribed to WSJ and the FT but I might let the FT lapse at the end of my trial...the WSJ is fantastic. Might get the LA Times as its local for me.
