How much do you pay for a haircut?

I'm interested on what everyone pays for haircuts.

I've paid more in the past, but I've found a barber who has been really good and is only $24. I've been debating going to a private studio that charges a lot, mainly for styling recommendations and am not sure if it's worth the $80 he charges.

If you pay more than $60, can you post your experiences and reasons?

$15 + $5 tip. I have short hair so they just shave it on the sides with a 2 and then give it a quick trim on the top. Takes about 10 minutes at the most. No need to pay for an expensive cut if you have short hair.

I always get it cut short, and the place I go to is $15.

I've also buzzed it myself before, just put a #2 guard on and do the sides and back and then a #4 on top, but I can't do the neckline myself so I leave it undone so it doesn't look as good as when a professional does it.

$15 + $5 tip. I'm pretty sure my barber is gay. I've gone to a salon and paid $40+ for a woman to do it but they always take twice as long and do a terrible job and every once in a while I get a really unattractive woman so it's just a miserable experience.

Nothing. I shave it off. Inexpensive and low-maintenance.

+1 made the rounds with salons and found that most places did a terrible job and the good ones changed jobs too often.

I've been going to a barber for about a year and he does a fantastic job for a song in comparison. I pay $20 and tip $10.

$40 +$20 tip i have an excellent hairstylist who always goes above and beyond. haircuts last around 1 hour and his attention to detail is amazing. he always takes his time and never rushes even though he always have a full day's appointment. conversations are always fun and interesting. what warrants the $20 tip is that he is a single parent and is just a stylist there (not the owner). oh, and there are complimentary drinks!

I tried a few local barbers here in Paris and they all charge around €28 (about US$35). Unfortunately my weak language skills meant all I could ask for was "short". After a couple times being left looking like I'd had an operation, I decided to buy some hair clippers and ask my wife to do it. She does a far better job at home. The clippers cost the same as one visit to the barbers and are definitely the best thing I bought last year.

Trying to figure out the real exchange rate?

Usually about 20€, so that'd be something like $25,50 according to todays spot rate. Just a simple military style cut, but I pay the guy b/c I can't do the fade anywhere near as nicely as him.
