Does Toronto have any speakeasy-type cocktail bars? - Page 2

I can't wrap my head around paying $45 for a cocktail and this is coming from a guy that typically hasn't had an issue dropping 3-400 on dinner when the restaurant merited it... I guess it's personal preference and the fact that I really don't care too much about liquor, but still... Derail: What are some good places for dates that have an upscale atmosphere atmosphere but aren't too pretentious? What about places that aren't as upscale but still good?

$45 is pretty ridic, esp. if you need to tip them as well. I'd give maybe $25 for a superior cocktail done at a Japanese cocktail bar, where they implement some real technique beyond just putting the good stuff in, but that is my upper limit.
