Why do people buy J.Crew?

I bought one of the 'ludlow jackets' from there. The sleeves were two inches too long. The jacket was fused. The lapel button was a keyhole shaped button. The lapel was folded at the wrong place. It was a ************* all around.

I bought a wallet from there. I've had it for two months. The stitching on the piece that keeps the card holder attached is coming off.

Most of the trousers I've bought from them that fit in the waist are going so up ****** crack that I'm scared to wear them in public.

Why is there so much love for J Crew here? What am I missing? I've seen some hate as well, but there's not near enough of it if their overall quality is similar to what I've experienced.

I don't think their shirts+shorts+pants really have any issues. I don't think anyone here really buys a lot of jcrew suiting.

I don't think there is a lot of love for them here, but I did just get a pair of chinos that have a great fit on them. This is the first thing I've gotten from them in years and I was pleasantly surprised.

I don't think people buy J. Crew suits except you. You bought a ludlow jacket expecting it to be fully canvassed?

It's affordable. There's not a lot competing with it at its price point. And the styling's a step up from most mall wear. Good for beater wear.

I don't go for the sportcoats/tailored clothing, but I have several shirts and sweaters I like. I just bought an awesome peacoat sweater that I'm hoping holds up well.

I pick up items for casual wear. It's cheap and the quality is good enough for, as Doc puts it, "beater" wear.

Unless the buttonholes are cut, I don't understand the complaint about the sleeves. If they're too long for you, they're too short for someone else. Better too long, anyways.
