Getting tattooed for the first time. what lotion is the best what else should i know? - Page 2

H2ocean is the best stuff ever! It keeps your skin hydrated, and lets it breath unlike aquaphor/a&d ointment..so healing time is quicker and it doesn't peel as bad..thus retaining ink better. i have 12 tattoos 4 of them are large and this stuff works great for me.

Hmm. I may have to give that a shot next time. They were selling that at the last studio I went to, but the tattoo artist didn't seem that thrilled by it (in the sense that it wasn't necessary).

If inner forearm is anything like inner bicep, the needle will feel like you're being cut open with a jagged piece of broken glass. Still, it isn't as bad as it sounds.

I'm keeping a close eye on this thread, as I plan on getting my first ink sometime in the near future. However, looks like inner bicep is probably not in the cards. I'm thinking right shoulder.

inner biceps isnt bad at all..the ones on my chest were the worst!

The guy I know with the most coverage does basically a dry heal with a little Dr. Bronners. If you do use lotion don't use anything scented and don't use too much. a tattoo is a wound that needs exposure to the air to heal. Re Pain: I found forearm not too bad at all, except for maybe close to the elbow. My stick'n'pokes hurt WAY more.

Getting one in a month or so on my chest, going to be my first. Whee. Wanted to wait for the summer to end so I don't have to be paranoid about it getting messed up from sun exposure while it heals.

i was always suggested aquaphor but it turns out, i have a weird reaction to aquaphor so i just use a very light layer of non-scented lotion, i usually use lubriderm non-scented. my tattoos heal beautifully, i have a full sleeve on my right arm...

The ones on my forearm were the easiest. The two on my chest hurt, especially the closer it got to the sternum, but the absolute worst was the one I have on my side from just under chest level down to my hip. It's over ribs almost the whole way, and then when my guy got down to the hipbone it was almost unbearable.

I have one on the right shoulder and I wouldnt even call the feeling you get there pain. Just kind of a jabby pressure.

A thin layer of Aquaphor 2x a day for 3 days until it peels. Then Eucerin for a month. Done.

Same here. It's good stuff.
