In any case, the rapid price rise of Valextra is unusual. I'm not sure the experiment worked, however, because prices seem to be falling again.

Is Valextra considered equivalent in quality to Hermes?
Fortunately for us, Lancia is an under-priced brand.

I read that the new CEO of Valextra had intended the brand to compete with Hermes, but is seems the experiment as it will didn't fare as well as say, Goyard. It probably had to do with the overall lack of logoes.

Valextra's quality seems on par with Hermes.

When you buy leather from Hermes, you own something that will last longer then your lifetime. To me the high price is justified. 1 $2000 wallet forever (and let's face it, their designs are timeless), vs 10-20 wallets of $200 each. If your buying Hermes for a season or two, you've got too much money. --Wade
