Not to worry, I was trying to hide it, but I've tried it before, and it seems to never work. I miss her dearly. Yeah, I was not really ready, but I'd known this lady from before, and she was persuing me.

Also, as I'm coming out with it, focus on my carrier = get over my wife's death.

actually, i think only you guys in the americas arent into sms. text messaging is a phenomenon and an accepted medium of message in most parts of the world.

No, not all women are like that. However, it looks like she's not really interested into getting in a relationship and at this moment you are most likely an amusement or a "good buddy", i.e: she doesn't really care about you. I would advise not trying to get any further.

Not to derail the thread, but i dont' get text messaging either. It's a pain in the ass. It's so much easier to just dial the number and talk to the person.

Nah texting is easier. I dont care to elaborate but there are quite a few instances when shooting a quick text is easier than making a call (ex. loud parties, meetings)

obviously i'm missing something. it takes me forever to "type" those things out. it seems to me like a quick phone call gets things sorted out much more quickly. My friend just got a motorola ming and that makes it quite a bit more practical to send txt messages, but i'm guessing most people are still pressing the same button three or four times to get the right letter and that's a pain in the ass.

you ever been in a club, and couldn't find your friends? Also, it's much easier to text a girl that you want to do certain things than to tell her on the phone... so.... ya, I've seen the benefits of text messaging.

Get the T9 in your phone set up properly, teach it your vocab and you're good to go. It's cheap (free with my plan), you can do it anywhere (in the classroom to someone else....) and you don't have to talk (i.e. just get the bit across you want and not have to talk). Plus it's actually nice in a social setting as you don't have to pick it up but you just get a quick notice and then answer it at a convenient time (i.e. girl in the bathroom while you're in a cafe and your buddy want something).

T-9? what is that? I have a razr v3i if that helps... there's an autocomplete feature for your words but it's annoying to use.

T9 is a predictive text input function. Motorolas are terrible for texting. I find Nokia to be the most user-friendly in this regard.
