In my experience Tricker's are always an "interesting fit" especially if you are changing the thickness of socks. Adjusting with different thickness and lengths of insoles is all part and parcel of getting a comfortable fit. I just bought some Stows and am fitting some full length insoles for summer wear. and will likely switch to a half-length insole for the winter.

I've always had problem with Stows. In the past I've gone one half size up from my size on the 4444 last. This time (see previous page I've gone with the same size as my 4444 and I think this is better. They only arrived today and are certainly tight but not too short. I am hoping that they will give across the instep and a little in width then they will be perfect with none of the heel slip I suffer from with the next size up.

the 4497 is too short and wide. I went true to size in UK sizing at first. Felt great on initial wear, but a bit wide. But after a while, my big toe felt like it was hitting something walking. Then 0.5 size up is too wide and I get some f-d up creasing. Comfortable, but aesthetically unpleasing.
I think 0.5 size up and one width down would work best, but I doubt I can find something like without going MTO.

1stly, country lasts are meant to be worn w/ medium to thick socks.

For Stow & Allan, I went the same size as my Vibergs, [non-2030] since 4497s are 5-fitting.

Maltons, I'm 1/2 down as they're 6-fitting. Grassmere Scotch Grain, eventho they're also 6-fitting, had to TTS as leather does not stretch much.

Have not tried 4444. But, from what I've read so far, I think I can pull off a 1/2 down [as on the Maltons], but only on the Derby shoes. On boots__ since there's only a slight difference in lenght from the 4497, I think I have to stay @Stow sizing ... It'll have to be a 6-fitting, for a 1/2 down.

Good to know I'm not alone! 3rd icon is correct. Tricker's have been difficult, mainly since I got it in my head that I could go down a half size and wear thin socks. A 9.5 is just not comfortable to me... too tight in the vamp and heel. A decade ago I was more of the #menswear mindset where you have to get the closest possible. Lately have found I can't wear the 9.5s for long periods or with anything but super thin socks. Plus I've been wearing my other boots with thicker socks properly for the last few years. So I am taking my own advice and migrating back to accepting a slightly looser fit in 10 UK with thicker socks. Sigh... lots of time and money down the drain, but what else is new?

Reading @meso makes me think the problem is more that of the lasts Tricker's use than the sizing, remember that every boot-maker has it's own set of lasts and sometime they don't fit your feet.

For instance, all Tricker's fit my particular feet (but I have to change size regarding the last) but none of the Edward Green feel good when I try them, changing the fitting and the size don't resolve that "problem" , it's just a question on anatomy versus shape of the last.

True enough! As far as I can tell, back in the day you bought footwear based on the type of last that fit your foot... rather than trying different sizes to get the right fit on whatever last you thought looked best. The phenomena of buying lasts because of appearances (they are "sleek" or whatever) seems more recent. For example Alden's modified is an orthopedic last. Now people seem to like it for aesthetic reasons.

Beautiful boots. I'd been watching those for awhile and just wasn't quick enough to pull the trigger when they went on sale. Such an outrageous deal.
