Any info would be great.

My experience with retricker has been mixed. Occasionally, they sell first quality shoes, but usually they have some kind of defect. Unfortunately, they never describe the defect in the listing. You can scour the pictures to try to figure out what's wrong (and the pictures don;t always reveal the problems), or you can email. Often, by the time they respond (if they respond), the shoes you want may have sold. The cordovan boots from this morning sold within half an hour of listing. Yes, you will likely be assessed a customs fee (in the US); they do accept returns, but it's expensive.

As for the 2298, I find it to be mostly consistent with the 4497, though a little tighter in the toe. I understand that Aldens are popular, but frankly think they're the worst reference point for shoe sizing. As with the 4497, with the 2298, I go one size down from my actual US shoes size as measured on the brannock device. (US 9 / UK 8)

Only the UK 6.5 left now in the Cordovan toe caps.

Did anyone here get them?

I would love to see pics if you did.

I have my first pair of Trickers Stow on order. Looks like I'll get them next week. Pretty excited, but also nervous about sizing.

I've had pretty good luck with seconds from retricker. Several pairs had no flaws that I could tell. Others the flaws were pretty minor. Their pictures can be useless for trying to determine what the flaw is since they usually use the same set of pictures for listings when they have multiple pairs.

I've only ever had to pay customs on one pair from them. Plus the amount for duty free shipments is going up to $800 today or tomorrow.

I agree about the Barrie being a horrible reference point but it seems to be somewhat universal in the internet shoe world.

I sized down a half size from my usual shoe size for my Stows.  Worked out well for me.

Has anyone been having problems with Tricker's lately. I really want a pair of Stows, but have had the following experience:
#1 Ordered online. Blue/green residue on unlined area inside tongue. Uneven colouring on upper. Returned.
#2 Went to Jermyn St store. Tried on a pair (not seconds). Noticed upper was very badly crimped where it met the welt. Ended up getting Cheaney Pennines.
#3 Ordered another pair online. More blue/Green residue on unlined leather, also visible on some exposed edges. About to return :/

I want to like Tricker's. I find the Stow extremely comfortable. Have I been unlucky or is Tricker's quality slipping?

Update: Just ordered another pair. Hoping this will be 4th time lucky!

However if anyone could comment on quality I'd be very interested to hear your experience.

My experience with the 2298 is to take .5 down from your brannock size. I am fairly certain that Tricker's considers this TTS. You see many people going a full size down (7.5D = 6.5UK 5 fitting) because the 4497 an 4444 lasts are not nearly as tapered in the toe as the 2298, which allows them to be comfortable in width as well as length. I'm a 7.5D brannock and take a 7UK 5 on the 2298 with medium weight socks.

I received a pair of Robert bluchers about 5 mos ago from a GMTO via Shoehealer and the quality is absolutely fantastic. Very clean all around. As far as I know, everyone from that order was happy with the pair they received. I have seen some quality issues on pairs from both RTW options and GMTOs, but I cannot speak to them personally nor can I say if they are any more/less common than similar quality issues that you see across comparable makers.

Re: quality of Tricker's shoes. The uppers are made of high quality leather. The soles and heels wear out far too quickly. Mine are fairly comfortable but not greatly so. I have to say that I won't be buying any more. Good looking shoes but not enough attention to the fact that people actually wear them.

Got the new Stows today. Better finished and surprisingly the leather appears to be better quality.

There is however a blemish near the toe. They were not bought as seconds but do people think these should really be? Please see the pics. Or am I just being fussy?

(lol just noticed my tasteful inclusion of a waste paper bin in the background!)

Oh dear... I would expect them to be seconds.

Hey guys, new member here hoping you can help me out. I bought a pair of Tricker's Bourton Brogues from End clothing last week and absolutely love them. Unfortunately, I'm stupid and managed to spill coffee at my desk today and some splashed onto the vamp of my left shoe. There's now a discoloration where the coffee splashed (looks like a slightly darker circle surrounded by a lighter colored ring). You can see a picture below - the point of the wingtip points right to what I am describing.

Can anyone give me some advice on how best to erase that mark? I'd appreciate any tips!
