Of course, this depends on personal tollerance and the climate you live in. I find them comfortable enough in the summer when it's below 80F so long as it's not too humid. With humidity, that comfort level needs to drop about 10 degrees. Of course, my feet will sweat a bit, but it's do-able. Certainly not my first choice in the summer, but if you need a boot in the summer, you'll have the same story anyway you go. I rarely wear them in the summer, only if I'm going into muddy ground, and honestly, even then I'd usually opt for something else. There really is rarely a reason you would choose to wear it in the summer unless you need a boot (work, motorcycle, hunting somewhere that has a dress code)

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I got the shoes for less than half price from Herring shoes quite a while back. Phoned Tricker's at the time who said that the 444 last was 1/4 size thicker in the vamp (not 1/2) but would be too big for me. I don't understand why the hell they mark a shoe as, say, a size 8 when it is really a size 7.5. Hence the accommodation for the 'country sock'.

Anyway, am going to order an Extremities Mountain Toester Sock in the meantime but thanks for the sox suggestions. I will explore those too.

Well, my monkey boots made it across the pond, and I am totally stoked. I've got nothing like these and am really liking the shape. Incidentally, they fit even better than my Stows, which I tried on in-store. The 5402R last is substantially less voluminous than the 4997(?), which really works for me. I may try an insert but I think I'd be perfectly fine without. Length seems to be just about the same as the 4997.

Thanks for the help guys, and another shout out to @princealbert for pointing me toward these beautiful creatures!

@turkey_sandwich pleased to see that the boots arrived. They look great with the natural welt.

Reliable Tricker’s! My old and favorite pair is catching some cold sun, before the action. I had to capture a glimpse of my cool ‘aged’ Rifle leather jacket.

I saw these earlier. I don't actually own any trickers. How does the w2298 last fit? I'm a 8 trubalance/8.5 barrie. Would the uk8 fit me?

Also has anyone ordered trickers seconds? How are they usually? Was there customs charges?

Any info would be great.

I agree, the sizing on the 4444 last is frustrating. I believe Trickers say that they have used this last for 70-80 years dating back to a time when people (in the UK at least) wore thick hand knitted socks hence the need for more room. However, now that times have changed maybe they should revise the sizing.

Just to make it more confusing the 2004 last comes in 1/2 a size smaller
