Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread - Page 411

I'm looking at my first pair of Tricker's boots in either Navy or Mogano Shell Cordovan.  What do you guys think?  I love the navy but I'm wondering if it'll get as much use as the Mogano.

OK, so I'm having difficulty drumming up interesting for the C&J Dundee GMTO (need 12+ for the GMTO to happen). I started thinking it might be a good idea to see if Trickers could get a similar makeup going.

Would anyone be interested in the following makeup:

Trickers Eaton Medallion Cap-toe With Punching
W2298 Last
Mogano shell
Slightly higher leg (5 eyelets & 3 speed-hooks)
Gunmetal hardware
"Antique" Barbour welt
Double leather sole with "Antique" edging (or dark grey Dainite if preferred)
Dark brown stitching
Regular lining
Dark brown laces
Pull-tab

£412.50 (exc. VAT).
~$636 shipped using ParcelForce (will vary slightly depending on rate).

PM with questions.

Boot would look similar to this:

Welt would look similar to this:

I saw a pair of Trickers boots from a collab in "lollipop red leather", want to make sure it is cavelier. Nearly every mention of lollipop I found on google is cavelier except this one.

I had heard that lollipop cavalier - one of my favorite leathers - had been discontinued by Horween about a year ago from Richard, but then END just came out with a boot and even a shoe - as I recall - in it, so who knows??? Maybe that was in the works a while ago, but it seems some more keeps trickling out from Tricker's...

Would anyone be able to tell me how the Trickers W2298 fit compare to the Tricker's 4497?

They're a bit narrower; they have slightly less room in the toe box.

So sizing down 1/2 a size would be ok?

I actually take the same size. When I've tried the 2298 a half size up from the 4497, it was off just enough that it didn't work. It really depends an the shape of your foot.

So if the 2298 has my heel slipping a little then going half a size down would probably make sense since they're a little wider and wouldn't be too tight.

Just so we're clear: the 2298 is narrower i the toe box than the 4497. You're slipping in the 2298?

Trying to decide if I should keep or return a pair of cordovan boots that i received on the stow. Im an allen edmonds 11d usually (but fit better in wider lasts) and ordered a 10uk. The shoes fit very snug at first with about a little less than a thumbs width of room at the toe. They arent painful however as the shoe is wide, but my feet definitely feel congested. If it as calf i would probably trust that it would stretch enough to keep but Im on the fence with cordovan. Any suggestions ?

Should be size 10.5 UK Stow.

I am the same size 11 US in AE & have size 10 UK Stow's only because i wanted the boot makeup & store was out of 10.5 UK.

I would return. I regret not returning mine because they are just slightly small.

In general US size 11 s/b UK 10.5

Yeah, same dilemna. It seems like 10.5uk may be the least common size in trickers. There seems to be lots of differing +- half a size opinions on the stow, and sites like stp and superdemin all recommend a full us size down (which goes against trickers recommendation). I like the boots though so still debating (I think if they just break in a little they might feel much better. )

Based purely on 'averages' Tricker's consider just Half a Size difference between UK and US Sizes, so broadly speaking a regular fitting and true to size US 11 would equate to a regular fitting and true to size UK 10 1/2.
Examples to consider......Tricker's most popular Lasts 4497s, W2298, 81, 4537, 2161 and 6038L all in regular Width Fitting 5 are found by most to be true to size.
4497s in Wide 'Fitting 6' is by comparison generous by half a size.
Last number 4444 in regular Width Fitting 5 is actually generous by half a size by comparison, so consider dropping one full size from a true US size.

Very important is.....no amount of information can guarantee a good fit. Only by trying shoes on can one be certain of how they fit and most importantly 'feel'.

Hope this is of interest and useful for some :-)

Richard.
