As long as the sole is Dainite I'll still be interested.
I might be inn on a new GMTO trough Shoe Healer. Both black and mogano is ok for me. Is it Eaton on a 4444 last width 5 we are talking about? I can go for both Dainite or commando sole.

I understand that Tricker's won't do a Veldtschoen any more, not even to order ... which is such a pity.  Of course, I might be wrong.

The really good thing about the natural storm welt is that once it ceases to be fashionable one can simply darken it!  Almost like having a new pair of shoes.

Out of curiosity.  What would be your preferred method of darkening the welt?

The Teak makeup I am participating in went with the W2298.  The black Tricker's x Superdenim boot it's inspired by was on the 4497 last.

Ouch! I wonder if there's a better chance of avoiding it if done through RoyalMail...

Just remember to ask Richard to ship via Parcel Force/Royal Mail.
At the very least, you'll skip the brokerage fees. I haven't been hit with customs on a USPS package in over a decade.

There are two ways that I would go, depending on the desired finish.

The first is more arbitrary/organic.  I would just keep applying a darker colour to the welt (Saphir Crème Surfine and Medaille D'Or wax polish, or similar) and, over time, the welt will take on a beautiful patina.

I sometimes use Saphir Renovating Cream in conjunction with this method, but it is not perfect, the colours are limited and it has a tendency to rub off ... it is really just meant for touching up.  However, it can be a good way to bring the colour down more rapidly.  You need to apply it before any polishes etc., otherwise it will not take.  Think of it as an "undercoat" and use it sparingly.

The second option, if I was after a more solid and uniform finish, is a high quality leather dye ... the same as a good shoemaker would use to stain a welt in the first place.

Before applying the stain, however, I would clean the welt with some Saphir Réno'Mat to remove any polish that has built up over time.  Give it a good buffing and let it dry out thoroughly first.

Alternatively, have your shoe repair specialist do it at the time of a resole, prior to stitching, and then the threads will retain their own colour, (if you are after some contrast etc.).

Have fun.

Ok, then I think a UK10 on the W2298 last will fit. Thank you.

So with the weather starting to turn, I pulled my boots out of their boxes to give them the once over - after a summer of running and largely not wearing shoes I now find them way too narrow and wondered if anyone here might want to give them a home? I have:

-Navy calf austerity Stow, natural barbour welt, red dainite sole

-Lollipop Horween Eaton (4497), natural barbour welt, red dainite sole

-Black cordovan Stow, black welt and dainite sole

Top two from ShoeHealer, cordovan Stows from e**y, all size UK10

Wish they all fitted, but my feet are now just too wide.

Good morning everyone. I picked up a pair of marron antique stows from Richard a few days ago, and I've never had a pair in that color before. Zippyh tells me he uses cognac Saphir on them, but I was hoping to use a polish that emphasizes the reddish/chestnut color a little more. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using Saphir mahogany cream/wax or other ideas????  Thanks in advance.

I've been searching high and low for a pair of lollipop red monkey boots in size 8.5 or 9, no luck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
