My Stow fit much like TruBalance. Hopefully the Tricker's work out.

I had mostly Barrie last, and couple of TruBalance - I'm not sure why they didn't work for me, but they didn't - I never had a boot or shoe with that effect on my feet. I did have a suede wingtip with a single flex sole - my feet felt ok, but I would get a constant pop when I walked - even after weeks.I gave up on Alden.

Thank you - it has been bugging me!

Yeah, popping is not a good thing. Unfortunately since when it comes to shell cordovan, there are few that can match up to them (quality of shell not necessarily style all the time).

Welcome...the Dainite site itself explains the origins of the name.

I wonder if Tricker's will be using the newer, more flexible Dainite studded soles in the near future (or if they're using them already); Crockett & Jones are already using them on some of the models in the local shop and they've a lot more 'give' than the traditional style. Whether this makes them less robust, I don't know...

The June sale is typically the third week of the month. I don't remember what the shoes go for, but their boots are typically discounted 100 GBP. I was at their xmas sale and with the VAT discount ended up paying maybe 210 GBP in total.

Is this sale in store only?

Yes...at the Jermyn St. shop.

Don't know if the timing is relevant, but I think that the Crockett & Jones sale starts next week. That's a shop-only sale too, I think.

Allen Edmonds. Got them in-store but I do believe they can be obtained online also.

Since I'm new to english footwear perhaps someone can rate them for me. You know like Loake, Barker, Tricker's, Church, Alfred Sargent, Cheaney, and I'm not sure who else - which ones are better, or not so good - thanks.

And if anyone has a pair of Tricker's Minster in a US10 that they would like to unload let me know. I just love the look of that shoe!

There are too many variables since each have different lines with varying quality. Also, each has specific styles that they do well in. For example, for country boots, Tricker's is probably the best. For finer smart shoes, Alfred Sargent has recently targeted a higher market and made excellent shoes for their audience. Cheaney has a wide range of shoes, but also recently came out with their Imperial range which has finer smart shoes. Loake and Barker, at least from my experience, has good quality but not compared to AS, Cheaney, and C&J. The higher you go, you will pass G&G, EG, JLP, etc.

Ultimately shoe style preference and last fit will narrow things down.

Ok thanks, it looks like Trickers, C&J, AS and Cheaney are good choices for my price range. I don't know who G&G, or JLP are, I know of Green though - pretty high end. To be honest I'm a big chukka fan.

Graziano & Girling (G&G)
John Lobb Paris (JLP); John Lobb London only does bespoke if I remember corectly

Tricker's and AS make great country boots from my experience.
