Gawd. Good luck, dude. I'm on my third pair of Aldens and I still haven't gotten it quite right. I think you have to resolve yourself to buying a pair from a retailer that has a good return policy and then just keep returning them and trying different variations until you nail it down. For example, I wear 10.5 D in standard American size (e.g. Allen Edmonds). I have Trickers in UK 10 (5 width) that fit so well I'm tempted to wear them to bed. But I've tried 10E and 10D on the Barrie last and 10.5D on the Leydon last in Aldens. None fits right. I'm about to try 9.5D on the barrie.
Frankly, it's more than a little frustrating. I wish Alden would standardize their sizing and reduce the types of lasts they use. I think Trickers does a better job of it and I, personally, am much more confident in my ability to find Trickers that fit without trying them on.
