Yes. I don't think the orbital cortex with that kind of functioning (which could be said to be directly linked to a sense of morality) exists for nothing. The human mind isn't built to only act for the benefit of oneself or else the social networking and/or society would not be like it is or has been.

Both/And If: (1) herd instinct is something natural and shared, and (2) human law is a product of both our reason and whims.

^^ Stripped of any religious baggage, morality still serves a purpose if you view it as a tool to attain progress as a society without abandoning our need for reciprocity.
