Calling to Vets: Bird needs your help

Hi,

Situation: I got a bird on my porch and he's been there since yesterday. I think he is hurt in someway; thus, unable to fly away. It's windy and raining right now and I think he needs attention.

Problem: As you know it's the labour day long weekend and no one is at work. I've tried calling the animal control services but no one picks up.

What should I do to get him through the long weekend until I can find a professional to give him attention? Should I let nature take it's course (seems kind of cruel)?

Thanks.

Hope everything turns out okay. Some ideas:

- call a vet (some are usually on call I think)
- contact a bird / wildlife group who might have a good idea on what to do
- if possible you could try to approach and give it some water in a bowl

Keep us posted.

BTW are you in Canada?

I'm residing in Toronto. Update: So I tried giving the guy some food and to my surprise when my hand inched towards him to give him food... he flew away. So problem solved, right? No, he keeps coming back now, whether it'd be to make my porch his home or he's waiting for someone is irrelevant. He should be able to survive on his own for the weekend until I call animal control on Tuesday. Turns out I'm the one that needs the help now to relocate him! Thanks guys.

That's interesting. The fact that it's able to fly away is positive but the fact that he returns would indicate that there is still a problem. It might be injured or ill and would only resort to flying away as a final option. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a more serious issue.

http://www.icepest.com/index.html - I have very limited experience with these guys and they were good at getting back to me promptly. (was calling about a carpenter bee in my cedar deck but canceled because of scheduling issues on my end)

So any update on this?

The bird can fly. Unless it's threatening you, who gives a shit where it rests?

Clearly it is up to something, duh. Why else is it scoping his place?

Has it donated money recently to the Ground Zero Mosque?

No one knows, but I heard that the bastard's cousin won't show anyone his birth certificate.
