Thank god I worked retail for as long as I did, I developed selective hearing techniques that make me impervious to all that crap.

Then again, occasionally I'll get 80's movie themes stuck in my head like Cyndi Lauper - Goonies R Good Enough, and Queen - Flash's Theme stuck in my head. But I think its just because pretty much every peice of those movies floats around in my head on a constant basis.

Quote:
Flash - aaa-aah! - saviour of the universe
Flash - aaa-aah! - he'll save ev'ry one of us
Seemingly there is no reason for these
Extraordinary intergalactical upsets (ha ha ha)
What's happening flash?
Only dr hans zarkov formerly at n a s a
Has provided any explanation
Flash - aaa-aah! - he's a miracle
This mornings unprecedented solar eclipse
Is no cause for alarm
Flash - aaa-aah! - king of the impossible
He's for ev'ry one of us
Stand for ev'ry one of us
He'll save with a mighty hand
Ev'ry man ev'ry woman ev'ry child
With a mighty flash
General kaka flash gordon approaching
What do you mean flash gordon approaching?
Open fire all weapons
Dispatch war rocket ajax to bring back his body

Flash - aaa-aah!
Gordon's alive
Flash - aaah! - he'll save ev'ry one of us
Just a man with a man's courage
He knows nothing but a man
But he can never fail
No one but the pure in heart
May find the golden grail oh oh oh oh
Flash flash i love you
But we only have fourteen hours to save the earth

Flash!

The theme to The Andy Griffith Show. You hear that whistled tune and it will be stuck in your head for months.

You know what? I was doing fine, and then you post this.

DAMN YOU!

Does anyone else tend to get jazz standards stuck in their heads? I had Bourbon Street Blues stuck in my head for about a week.

I used to, all the time, when I was in the jazz band and listened to jazz a lot in high school. "Don't get around much anymore" was one of them that I specifically remember.

Oh yeah, and every time I read, hear or think about Niger (yellowcake) I think of "Making Plans for Nigel" by XTC and it gets stuck for a day or so. It's pleasant, though. I had this mental image back in '03 of Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld and Powell standing around with guitars and singing about "making plans for Niger".

Just when I thought I didn't have a problem with songs getting stuck in my head, Mandy by Barry Manilow got lodged firmly inside my noggin and won't budge.

Thanks, guys. Thanks a whole hell of a lot!

I remember all my life
raining down as cold as ice.
Shadows of a man,
a face through a window cryin' in the night,
the night goes into

Morning just another day;
happy people pass my way.
Looking in their eyes,
I see a memory I never realized
how happy you made me.

Oh Mandy well,
you came and you gave without taking,
but I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy well,
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
and I need you today. Oh, Mandy!

I'm standing on the edge of time;
I walked away when love was mine.
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing,
the tears are in my mind
and nothin' is rhyming.

Oh Mandy well,
you came and you gave without taking,
but I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy well,
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
and I need you today. Oh, Mandy!

Yesterday's a dream, I face the morning
cryin' on a breeze, the pain is callin'

Oh Mandy well,
you came and you gave without taking,
but I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy well,
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
and I need you today

Oh Mandy,
you came and you gave without taking,
but I sent you away.
Oh, Mandy,well
you kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
and I need you!

I've never seen the movie, so it reminds me more of player pianos. And those people that, when they see a piano, feel compelled to play the one thing they know, and it's always that song.
