RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine - Page 62

Welcome TKingRCS and ukinne, great to have you around!

The Dress Camp Moc looks lovely - I really like the Camp Moc in general, unluckily the one thing that brakes it for me is the construction of the heel.
Same goes for most boat shoes.
Most likely it's not possible to build it differently but I much prefer the clean heel of loafers and Ranger Mocs.

The Baldwin just about looks perfectly.
I am in contact with Carmina right now to buy a pair of their Uetam Last loafers, but I can see the Baldwins making it to my rotation in the future as well smile.gif

Louis, what exactly do you not like about the heel? I'm having trouble finding the difference between the heels on the camp mocs vs. ranger mocs.

Which Carmina loafers are you after? The Uetam last does look very nice.

Just realized the Penny Loafers had the same "problem" I have with the Camp Mocs and Boat Shoes.

From worst to best:
Camp Moc:

Boat Shoe:

Ranger Moc:

Other from those heels from Rancourt, I prefer those two from C&J:

I am after those Carminas:

^^ I see. Sorry I didn't actually look at the ranger moc photos. Just compared my penny loafers with the camp moc.

Hmmm......I'm wondering if those heel designs could be swapped? I don't see why the heel on the ranger or boat shoe couldn't be done on the camp moc? But maybe I'm just revealing my ignorance.

The Carmina string loafers are very nice! (but a lot more dough)

Edit: By the way, thanks for pointing out the heel designs, something for me to consider as I finalize my order.

I am too interested if the design of the heel could be changed.
Till now I just thought they had to be done like that to grant constancy.

Also, I have to apologise.
I promised pictures of my Ranger Mocs but have not yet gotten fingers on a camera.

Still I can tell you the shoes look and wear great.
At first the small unlined parts of the leather on the inside dyed my bare feet brown when I rocked the shoes for a long, sweaty run, but it has stopped now and everything is just plain perfect about them.

yeah heels can be replaced, I opted for clean/no stitch on both of my orders.

^^ Thanks for the info, very good to know.

rkusmant, may I ask for pictures of your shoes?

Louis, the Baldwin tassel moc on the Rancourt site has a "clean heel" (same as Ranger Moc).

If anyone is interested in the history of the Maine handsewn shoe industry, there are some wonderful oral histories here, including interviews with three generations of Rancourts.

How does the Ranger Moc fit?
I measure between an 11A and an 11.5AA on the brannock
I am a
11.5 in Converse
11.5 in Nikes
11A and 11.5AA in Allen Edmonds
11B and 11.5B In Sperry
10 in Red Wing Iron Rangers
10 in Clarks

I am leaning towards an 11.5B.
What size should I go for?

I opted for a 10 in my ranger moc. I wear a 10 in nikes and a 9.5 in red wings. I seemed to be between the 9.5 and the 10 but seeing as the shoe was a lace up I opted for the higher size so as not to bet on stretch.

the 10 fits well, I hope this helps!

My ranger moc runs TTS.

Just got my beefroll loafers in today. The fit is spot on with maybe a tad of heel slip but I guess they should go away in a day or two of wearing it. I went TTS on the loafer and will report in another month or so about how it stretches out.

This is my second pair of rancourt and I am still impressed with every little details on this loafer. The new packing box is also really cool when Rancourt added "Authentic American Craftmanship" on the box.

the block-dotted sole cannot compare to the tempest sole for grip. I guess I will try it out on the wet floor when I get a chance. But, so far, on tile this sole doesn't really provide too much grip but I suppose it's better than plan leather sole.

Here are the pictures.

Here is a tiny chip on the leather sole but it cannot be notice while wearing.

Took my loafers in to get a rubber half slip attached as well as get the heel lowered. I think they're taking it 1/4" down, but I asked for it to be as low as possible. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
