RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine - Page 225

Yep, brown CXL.
Sizing 9,5 and 9. Indeed a very great benefit of MTO.
Interestingly the soles are same size, uppers differ in size. Visible for the keen eye as difference seems only in plug length, instep length seems equal.

Great snug fit as hoped / planned (my very first pair of shoes with different sizes for my different sized feet: realy great!).

First pair of Rancourts and first post here, long time lurker though. SF was/is great intro and source to the brand, thanks to all posting here.

Now the sizing is clear planning a few more pairs:

Green shell camp mocs
Khaki 2 eyelet chukka's
Dark olive cxl boats for the misses

Will post pictures when they arrive.

Catch of today:

I really like the sole choice for that application.  Very, very well done.  Quite genius really. (dunno why this shows up three times, it only appears once in the text editor.)

Green shell camp mocs is another one that makes me question "why didn't I think of that?"  Dark olive is a nice color too.  Will you do the red bricks for that make up also?  What sole for the Green shell camps?  I always thought that banana color aspen would go well with green shell.  So would that amazonian camp moc sole, or whatever that camp or boat sole is that is kind of a pale yellow. (chime in if you know what i'm talking about).

The natural would look good too.

FYI, the aspen on my rangers causes me to trip on the carpet sometimes, which causes the sole to separate from the midsole.  I have been gluing it back on with Dap contact cement.  Its been happening less now that I am getting used to it.  Makes a strong case for that leather toe that Alden uses on their crepe.

I was surprised how 'bouncy' the natural latex was when I first wore them.  Exceeded my expectations in that sense.  In some ways it feels kind of weird though.  There feels to be a hard lump in the back of the heel on one shoe, and the squishyness is a trade-off for support.  Someone who requires a lot of arch support might find them problematic.  All-in-all, I would not advise against them.

Green shell camps is not my original idea:

(scroll down the blog).

1 photo copied here because they are so absolutely and completely stunning imo (courtesy Maxminimus):

I will probably order with brick red boat sole (again) and brown midsole, for the rest identical to Maxminimus' version. But you've got me thinking now about alternative soles.

The dark olive boats will likely be with honey boat sole an brown midsole.

I had a hard time picturing them when you discussed them previously.  The contrast b/w the black and natural is great.  As is the balance between the natural and the chestnut.  Another genius design, and quite novel at the same time.  Strong nod of approval from this corner.

Nicely done! They look great

A noob to Rancourt here and I was wondering if anybody can share their experience about the Rancourt wingtip sizing compared AE's 5 last? I wear an 8.5D on the AE 5 last.

With the unavailability at AE of light colored shells, Im now thinking of going for a Rancourt blake wingtip where colors such as caramel, green, and navy are available. But Im unsure of sizing as Ive never worn or tried on a pair of Rancourt.

Much thanks!

How does the sizing compare to AE's 511 last? Did you have to adjust your size? I wear an 8.5D on AE 5 last and was wondering how the fit and size compares to Rancourt's sizing as Im now seriously considering my first venture into Rancourt's MTo program.

I really like the combination of black shell and brown midsole. Could definitely see myself doing something like this. And it is amazing how little these handsewn shoes weigh!

As a fellow green shell ranger moc owner I fully approve.

I've only ever tried on AE 5 last and was sized for 11E in it. I'm 11D TTS. I have 11E in the Blake wingtip and it is on the bigger side for me. I plan to wear them with heavier socks so it is working, but is sounds as if you are looking at it as a dress shoe.

If 8.5 D is also your TTS, the I think that could also work for you in the Blake.

Of course email Rancourt about this too if you haven't already. I think they will give good advice.

One thing I have noticed about the Blake wingtip is that it seems to have a fairly low cut heel cup, which I think makes the fit a little less than ideal for me as I've sized them. I would be interested to try them on in 11D to see how that feels.

Thanks for the information, especially for the added info about heel cup fit. Yes, I live in the tropics so I usually wear my shoes with dress socks, or sometimes when Im adventurous with no-show socks. So I'd really like to get the size spot on.

Ive dropped an email to Rancour, lets see what the advise will be.

Do you live in the US? Rancourt has a made to fit program where they send you two sizes to try on. It only costs $50 and is applied to your order so it essentially costs nothing and helps to ensure proper fit. I would recommend going this route if possible

Good point. I assume this is still for the handsewns but if you can find your size in those then advice on the Blakes should be accurate.
