Don't fret.  I spent over $1,100 on 3 pairs in less than 12 months, two of which were highly customized MTOs involving a long series of emails back and forth, and I didn't get the email either.

I am disappointed that the custom concept page doesn't have the camp moc style, given that I just got my ranger moc.

So for this offer, I will probably order another pair of shell ranger moc.

I am struggling between the colors of the shell, as I already have a number of #8 from Alden already, black not interested, navy looks a little bit dull, so caramel ?

There is very little structural support given by this stitching, at least on goodyear shoes, because the stitching wears away faster than the glue breaks down. Also, it looks like on the tempests there isn't a channel for the stitch, at least on some of them, so that stitching is going to wear down right away.

On the littleway stitched shoes (that's what it's called! just learned this!) the extra stitching on the outsole is another line of stitches fully through the upper, and they told me that they *never* reuse the midsole on the handsewns. When I get them resoled, that means I'll have 4 tracks of stitches on the upper, instead of 2, and then 6 instead of 3. How many resolings until it's so perforated that it tears? For CXL I wouldn't care, but for shell, where otherwise they might last 20 years, I would care a lot.

I never noticed that until you pointed it out.  I wonder why there isn't a channel.  (Just checked the tempest on my Blakes, and they are as you describe.)

That sole crumbling isn't a deal breaker for me, although I understand what you are saying in comparison to the smooth wear on the christy.

I'm sure camp mocs will come at some point. They also don't have their moc-toe chukkas yet, so plenty more to come.

The lack of a channel doesn't bother me either, it's just to point out that the stitches are mostly just for show. If they weren't punching extra holes in my sole, I wouldn't care at all. If you look at some really high end shoes, they don't even bother with the stitching, they are just to add confidence.

The crumbling isn't an issue or a deal breaker either. It's just something aesthetic to point out. No complaints at all with my ALH.

After much debate etc. I placed my order for the blake wingtip in green shell with the mini-lug.  Looking forward to seeing how it comes out!

It bothers me a little, but not a lot.

Calikid, you always seem to have some of the ballsiest ideas when it comes to MTOs.  (Frank has some good ones too.)  What are the other specs on the your order?  Or are you going to let the suspense build?

Seems like everyone is gearing up for winter. Still breaking in some RL Rockford Royal Ranc boaters in the heat.

I'm just as curious how the blake wingtips in general are going to come out, but what an awesome endeavor those will be.

Wearing my Steven Alan calico peanut suede 3-eye chukkas today. What a steal that was, I haven't worn anything non-Rancourt all summer.

Thinking about this wingtip....

Anyone have pictures of the caramel shell cordovan next to natural CXL?

I'm trying to decide if it's crazy to have the same shoe in the two different leathers...

Very nice 2 tone shell. I might go with a Tempest sole as I think the sole is a bit clunky for a shell saddle style.

Sorry read that wrong. Forget it.

I was also thinking of the Caramel shell with the Navy.

I agree on the sole, however I have a nagging foot injury and the RLH would make these comfortable.  Maybe go for one of the crepe-style.

I do not have natty shell yet, but having seen it and natural CXL I can say they do not look the same at all. Natty CXL goes from a green, to a pale tan to a chocolatey brown. Natty shell goes from a pinkish gold to a reddish brown. Also, shell doesn't develop the hairline creases, it gets more of a folding nature, and CXL doesn't get the same dynamic range of colors that shell does. In the same way CXL #8 is vastly different than Shell #8.
