RANCOURT & Co. Shoes - Made in Maine - Page 139

My experience with rancourt/RL

10E in boatshoes lined : perfect
10E in boatshoes unlined : perfect when new. stretch a bit with time...but fit is still good (2 pairs)
10E in beefroll unlined : way too big when new ! one finger between the heel and the back of the shoes. Have not tried 9,5E...(not available on french RL website)

Hope that helps

I'm interested in picking up a pair of the MTO ranger mocs sold by Taylor Stitch any advice on sizing, especially width as I'm sure they will stretch.

Ordering another pair in the next day or so and I'm going 8D. I did the made to fit program they offer and the 8D felt much better. I recommend the made to fit program.

So what is the recommended sizing advice to account for stretching?  I am about to order a pair for myself.  When I got my dad his boat shoes, the 9.5Ds were fine lengthwise, but a little tight on my pinky toe (Sockless).  I've tried them on more recently after hes stretched them and worn them a lot with white athletic socks.  They are definitely looser, but would still probably work.

Should I size down half a size, size down a width? or do both?

Once again my poor English lead to a misunderstanding.
When I said I was looking for a brown boat shoe, I was aware and very much liked #8 Chromexcel was more redish brown/burgundy than brown Chromexcel, I am not set on a "neutral" brown.
Therefore let me simplify my question: Which color would you prefer in a boat shoe #8 or brown CXL?

Further, when flipping through the pages of the thread, I found the following post.
If I recall correctly Bakes was the one who considered buying a pair of boat shoes for his dad's birthday but was not sure Rancourt was worth the price they asked for.
Am very glad some others and I were able to convince him.
From how the shoes look one can clearly see the owner wears them a lot and very unpretentious so, which I think is a great thing for a boat shoe.
Also, are those brown CXL? The definitely look great!

Yes, the man loves his boat shoes.  His go to pair of sure for certain.  He wears them in the snow, when he's walking the dogs through the woods, when he is shoveling lime in the yard.  He recently rolled his ankle while playing tennis, and I'm trying to get him to wear something else with more ankle support until it heals, but he just keeps on wearing his boat shoes.

Thanks for encouraging me to get them.  He likes them more than I ever would have imagined, and notices the superior quality more than I thought he would.  Other people know about his boat shoes too, because he tells others how I ordered him this special pair.

The boat that I intended for him to wear them on should be here this spring.

Yes, Brown CXL.

thanks never even knew or thought about clicking on made to fit program

will def try this and report back icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

The scheduled ship date was today, in fact. I haven't heard anything though. Figuring on the Easter weekend slowing things down, though you'd think they'd account for that. The budgeted a pretty short turnaround for themselves on the order, but it wasn't anything complicated. Hoping to see the shoes by end of week, if I am lucky.

Michael Hains, would you mind sharing a picture of your #8 boat shoes?

Do your moccasin construction shoes fare well in the rain? Mine "leaks" from the apron seam where it is hand stitched? Flawed or to be expected?

Did you get an email or are you able to see this via your account page on the Rancourt website? Looked at my order and didn't see any shipping date details at all in the online record. Not a big deal. Just interested to know how this works for you.

To be honest we where emailing back and forth on another potential order and I asked and she told me it was pushed back 11days. Shame to I wanted to take them on a trip I am going on

That is too bad. They must be pretty busy as I emailed a few days ago to get a price on another customer order and have not heard back yet. They are usually pretty fast to get back to me.
