I haven't received them yet, but based on what Kyle said, casco is a really soft leather lining. It's what he recommended when I asked about suede ranger mocs. I'll post more pictures and let you guys know my impressions when I get them.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The beefrolls I bought a few weeks ago have become my most comfortable shoes.

Just got a shipping notice for brown CXL pinch pennies with honey rubber camp sole. Crossing my fingers that my sizing experiment is at least wearable. There will also be a saddle shell belt in the package. Hope to see the package before the end of the week. Will post photos, of course.

I was just coming to post those--that's my order:) I like the way they turned out.

Mothball, sorry for stealing your thunder with that post.

As everyone has said, those are very nice. That shoe really says "ranger moc" to me. What did you request for the edging? It looks like a burgundy? But that could just be the photo.

Ah, man, you didn't steal any thunder. It was cool opening Rancourt's FB page and thinking, "Ooh, that's suede's nice. And that's the same sole I ordered, cool. Hey, wait a minute."

I didn't request anything for the edging; as far as I know that's just the standard tempest sole. Kyle was great with answering all my questions as always. If I get through the year without ordering any green shell I'll be very proud of myself.

holy. crap..
we know about navy and green, what else will they do??

speaking of that, one of the reasons I love shell is how it ages, my shoes in #8 and whiskey shell get better every few months.
but what would one expect with a darker color like navy or green? are they going to show much of a patina?

Well, the edge on the soles do appear to be stained, no? It's certainly not left natural.

Looks close to the beefrolls posted at ACL:

Think that looks nice with the snuff.

Oh no. This is trouble. Pretty sure some green shell is in my future and I am very interested to see how they age. Will the dye fade? To what color? And I too wonder what other shell color options there may be. Also how many there should be. :)

Just in case anyone is interested, I mailed Kyle about what options are available for Calico suede, or "rough-out" leather, and also about muleskinner.

They have dark brown, khaki, navy, red, green, grey in Calico. There is a pic of khaki calico on a ranger moc on their website, but of rather low quality. I think the khaki calico looks great on these Quoddys. Thinking about this on a ranger moc with honey RLH soles.

The muleskinner on these Quoddy's also looks quite nice though. Any want to enlighten me about muleskinner? Kyle called it a "waxed flesh" leather. Is it different from the chamois or oiled nubuck?

Brown CXL pinch pennies with honey rubber sole arrived today, along with saddle shell belt. My office smells great right now. These shoes are my experiment with 11.5B (versus 11D) and I was a little worried looking at them right out of the box. However, slipping them on they seem like they should work out very well. They give a snug but not at all tight fit and I've got plenty of room in the toe. I'm going to wear them to confirm, but the question should become whether this sizing will apply across the Rancourt line.

The photos:

Saddle Shell Belt

Stitching and finish are beautiful. The color is really tan, with much less orange in it than Alden Whiskey shell. I'm now starting to wonder how nice a pair of Rancourt Shoes will look in this...

The CXL Loafers
I have a preference for shell, but this CXL is so nice, both supple and sturdy. And I know it's going to age well. Not sure if the color comes through here, but I like it.

Needless to say, very excited.

Not as awesome as Frank's new arrival, but I received the clearance chukka boots from Brooks Brothers today. I went TTS with this pair compared to sizing down 1/2 with the beefroll penny loafers and it fits very well (as did the loafers). Another nice pair of Rancourts for me, and at an awesome price.

I've never owned a green pair of shoes though. What can I wear with this color?

A few pics:
