yeah, im hoping the hunt boots dont fit differently from the oxfords. i guess at pop-up there was two people who bought both styles and went down a 1/2 size from the oxfords (which run tts).

That means for some of us the hunt boots might be a full size down? Hmm. Interested to hear how they fit you. I do think it is important to try them on with a decently thick sock. Let me know.

i dont think i own a really think sock ... i wear wigwam (medium weight) and psycho bunny. what socks are you talking about specifically and i will see if i can find some locally. my guess is i will be the same size in all of his shoes. he mentioned there were two people who sized down on only the boot. but that doesnt mean everyone will have to. the line is built on the same size last, which is why i think i will be the same size in the entire line, like the majority of the people. sometimes people have a certain preference in a boot or shoe fit so they might go up or down a size ... or there could be a slight variance in size because they are built by hand, etc.

The only thing I'd say is, I tend to sometimes go a half size down if I am wearing a shoe barefoot, as I can have heel slip, but a sock can often account for that. For instance, my 8.5 E Yuketens fit me perfectly barefoot, but are almost uncomfortably snug with moderate weight socks (thin smartwool, etc.). I could go with a 9E in Yuks if I were to wear them with socks.

That's why I ask about trying on the boots with socks you would wear into the conditions they are meant for - snow, rain, the elements...because a foot will fit at least slightly, and sometimes almost 1/2 size differently with socks versus without.

I learned this is really important with my Wolverine 1K miles. Since I live in Los Angeles I had only worn them with thin socks, but try wearing them with smartwool or camp socks in Chicago and it is a whole different story in terms of how the foot fits. I realized I sized down too far on them. They still work, but I went and tried on 1/2 size bigger and they are a better fit and more versatile for colder weather. (I know these aren't cold weather shoes, just making the point about sock fit).

Wait..does he make them or farm them out? If he farms..who makes his shoes? Are they machine or handmade?

They are handmade at a factory in Maine. They are absolutely hand stitched in the classic Maine tradition. He's located in Evanston, IL, where he designs the shoes. Likewise, Yuketen designs their shoes in Hermosa Beach, Ca but produces them at factories in Maine, and some in Canada. There is nothing wrong with them being produced at a well equipped factory and designed elsewhere.

they are made in a small factory in maine. there are very few people who have the ability to produce these shoes because the construction is very traditional, as such, most of these shoes are made in maine because that is where the labor is. but yes, they are all done by hand from top to bottom. it doesnt get much better than this
