J. Crew to Put Outlet Merchandise Online

Story here: http://jcrewaficionada.blogspot.com/...ng-online.html

In some was I think this is a good thing, because I've found one or two pieces worth getting at discount prices at J. Crew outlets. Mostly, though, I think it will dilute their core brand.

As long as it's all clearly marked or in it's own separate section on the site, I am fine with this. It will provide more buying options, so what could be wrong with that?

Economic impact aside, analysts said some of J.Crew's fall merchandise also has been too edgy and not resonated as well with its customers.

Actually if you consider the fact that JCrew has been in the process of rebranding itself to appeal to a younger and more fashion conscious demographic over the last few years, it makes sense. I'd bet the customers that these "analysts" are talking about are the ones that shopped the store before the rebranding started.

Having said that analysts are almost always off the mark.

Luxury brands are worrying about diluting their image, but J.Crew has decided that no height is too low to descend to.

I think that quote about stuff being too edgy was referring to the women's stuff...
