yeah. it's close. stewart did outscore williams by a few pts. had a few more tds. receiving yards were about the same, but williams had more receiving yards.

from that standpoint, i like that trade more and more. only problem i see is that both RBs involved are on, what i think, is going to be a horrendous team.

^As I suspected, he rejected my counter. He then offered his original deal, with the addition of me sending Bernard Berrian and him sending Malcolm Floyd.

He's just trash fishing.

I've always admired the style of Pat Gillick whose nickname was, "Stand Pat" Gillick for his conservative style.

Injuries and players emerging will give you plenty of opportunities to remake your roster. Don't get caught up in trying to make a trade just to make a trade.

Oh yeah, I'm very familiar w/ Gillick .

I'm not in any rush to make any deals, though I enjoy discussing trades. However, when I make an offer, I do make it a point to take a look at the other team's roster and throw something out there that benefits them in some they're lacking. Some of the dumb offers are just annoying.

I was up in the air about this team, but the more i look at it, the more i like it except for my RB situation. i don't a first string backup RB, so if 2 guys go down, i'm fucked.

12 team league with all 12 owners having played together for a minimum of 4-5 years running now. Standard scoring except for the following: TD passes worth 6 points instead of typical 4. TE reception worth 0.5 pts. I had the 10th pick. QB: Drew Brees RB: Beanie Wells RB: Knowshon Moreno WR: Randy Moss WR: Santana Moss WR: Lee Evans TE: Visanthe Shiancoe D/ST:Ravens K: Matt Prater Bench: Jerome Harrison (RB) Bench: Brandon Jacobs (RB) Bench: Laurence Maroney (RB) Bench: Josh Freeman (QB) Bench: Kevin Boss (TE) Bench: Nate Burleson (WR) Bench: Legedu Naanee (WR) Bench: Josh Morgan (WR) Bench: Danny Amendola (WR) IR: Vincent Jackson (WR) My thoughts: Pros: Ride Brees (especially in this format) and Randy Moss as they should carry the team and can win a matchup any given week. Good WR and RB depth with many breakout candidates. One or two RB's or WR's have big years exceeding their expectations and this team can be a powerhouse. Huge midseason addition potential if Vincent Jackson plays somewhere after week 6. Cons: Cannot have the Madden curse for Brees. All RB's have questions but with Hardesty out, Harrison can become a really good backup/potential starter and may be used as trade bait. Wells and Moreno can be stars or busts so there's huge risk/reward at RB with no certainty. Evans as a WR3 is not good but if VJax comes back, WR corps is elite. Potential for one or two backup WR's to become every week starters but still question marks. Shiancoe better find the end zone but replacing him via trade wouldn't be that hard with TE depth this year. Overall analysis: Team is playoff bound with Brees and Moss making terrific cornerstones. If one or two RB's make the jump to a top tier back and the other wideouts have solid seasons, a good run will be made for the championship. Vjax would be huge if he came back midseason as a WR2. With Mcnabb under center, Santana Moss could easily revert back to his form of a couple years ago and has forever been good year/bad year/good year/etc throughout his career and had a bad year last year. If RB's don't live up to billing, break out, or lose their starter status, the season may be a long one.

did you get brees with the 10th? in a 6pt TD league, that is awesome with the 10th pick. in that format, 5-6 QBs should be taken in the first round alone.

Moss with the 10th and Brees on the return in the second. Rodgers went ninth and I had a feeling the two guys behind me wouldn't take a QB early. Couldn't let Brees go by in the second.

Same guys drafting every year and no pushovers so it is a real competitive league. Thing is, QB's never get drafted early in any draft and we've had the 6 point thing forever. Normally I wait on QB's til late because I've had a knack for getting good QB's late. Favre last year in the 10th. Roethlisberger the year before in the 9th. Brady and Palmer before that late when they had good years. Year before Brady went off.

Going into the draft I wanted Moss/Rodgers with my first two picks. I figured Andre Johnson would be gone (he was) and I didn't like any of the RB's left as a first round pick. Almost went Brees at 10th, but knew Moss wouldn't be around for me to get him and just felt that Brees would be based on past drafts and when QBs have been taken.

12 team league, been playing since early 2000's. Trying to do something different this year picking WR's first. League is .5 PPR, 4pts for throwing TD's, 1pt per 10yards rushing, and 1pt per 20yards receiving. QB\t\tMatt Schaub \t WR \t\tAndre Johnson WR\t\tCalvin Johnson \t RB \t\tJamaal Charles \t RB \t\tC.J. Spiller TE\t\tChris Cooley\t FLEX\t\tWes Welker \t K \t\tRyan Succop DEF\t\tMiami BN\t\tReggie Bush \t BN\t\tDez Bryant BN\t\tFred Jackson BN\t\tJabar Gaffney BN \t\tWillis McGahee BN\t\tMike Williams (TB) I know I'm in desperate need of RB help. Any idea what kind of value could I get from my bench players? Welker is also a trade option but feel he was a steal in the 9th round. Does anyone know anything about Spiller? Is he worthy of a starting spot? I feel forced to draft and hang onto Fred Jackson just in case. Sleepers: Gaffney and Bush should have nice years in a PRR league, Mike Williams has emerged as the #1 in TB and Josh freeman looks promising Risks: Cooley- any thoughts on how he's recovered from his broken ankle?

i have a nice little excel file with projected stats where i can configure final projected points and in that format based on 4pts per passing td and 1pt/20 yards + .5pt/catch, you should not have taken a WR until the 3rd round. Guys like Addai, Grant, etc. have a higher potential. It has Rodgers and Brees going 1 and 2 since the receiving yards diminish the value of the RBs. that 20 yards per point really devalues a WR and to some extent the RBs. Look at last years stats. Total points wise. Chris Johnson had 2000 rushing and 50 catch for 500 receiving with 16 total TDs. in your format, that yields 341 points. Andre Johnson had 101 catches for 1569 yards and 9 TDs. That only yields 184pts. Almost half of what CJ had. not the greatest comparison since CJ had a god like year, but you can see that WRs are almost useless in this format. try trading andre or calvin for a top tier RB. if not, i think you are screwed. PS - that was way too difficult trying to type this on an iphone while riding shotgun in a car for a work road trip.
deuce thanks for the iphone effort. I guess i'll be trading away! Thanks!
trade fast. if this is the first year with this format, guys might not realize how bad WRs are.
well I agree with what you said and my plan didn't really pan out. I thought RB's were deep this year and all this running back by committee stuff really changed things. I really hope Charles will have a good year on par with addai or grant. I do beleive I need a RB stud and hopefully Spiller turns out to be the suprise of the year. I sent out some trades for Rashard and grant so we'll see. Thanks again
