When you think of it, most trucks that aren't bought stripped stock are equipped with the same pricey options that are in large SUVs and cars. Leather seats, seating upgrades, upgraded climate control, upgraded engines and trim, and electronics and navigation should cost whatever they cost in an SUV, which can be a lot. The spread for full-size trucks, new, can go from the low 20Ks to nearly 60K, especially for heavy-duty chassis and dual rear drive wheels and 4WD and high-output diesel engines. Are you planning to use this truck for commuting? Will it be a work or largely personal vehicle? Do you really need a pickup truck (do you own and maintain large property, tow trailers, need to carry odd/large cargo, etc?) Would a van suit your needs better, or a hybrid-type panel truck, like the Ford Transit? Would you consider a used truck?

Well you need to get the cayman S. 65 grand. Why get a slow porsche. Then you need the PDK transmisison, 10 grand.

PASM adds another 5
Do you want leather or plastic interior. I don't know about you but rolling around in a plastic porsche is just wrong. Add another 5 grand

We are already at 85 grand and we haven't even talked about any of the little things you may want. Thats just the basics. Want the cool wheels and sports seat it keeps going up. Want the carbon brakes? Now you got a car over 100k. Porschenomics!

But for another 15 grand you can get a turbo installed that bumps the performance to 911 turbo levels. At this point you should get the techart body kit and now you have a real ferrari killer at 140 grand.

Of course you could have just bought an Aston Martin v12 vantage and called it a day.

When I have money to buy another sports car in 2 years I am thinking of the vantageor possibly that new morgan.

pg600rr; I don't understand how you have no qualms about buying a daily driver like a small import truck (which hold great resale value, and vehicularly, are not a terrible purchase if you get a good deal on a new one) used, up to 4 or 5 years old (2006 models could have been registered in 2005) but you only consider brand new versions of small near-sports cars that take enormous hits in resale value and all breach the $50-55K mark, and you are considering entry level sports cars that cost $60K, like the Cayman. You are right, in that $75K for a Cayman is ludicrous. Switch it up and get a new daily driver, and buy a CPO sports car with a 100K/6yr warranty at 60% of sticker. Shit, take a gamble and buy a gently used Cayman S for $30K, Porsches are pretty reliable and it's a simple car.

You don't buy a pickup truck for fashion sense, you buy it to haul shit around, preferably in 4WD. The Ford Ranger is excellent for this purpose.

Was getting a new car anyway after the beater died but I am also interested in now getting a truck. I have never owned a truck and dont know shit about them. A friend has an 06' Toyota Tacoma TRD which he loves and reccomended.

I dont want anything to huge, but do want a decent mid-sized bed, AWD, decent gas mileage, 2006+...

Original timing belt?

I used to always go by those when making a purchase but then I had multiple sales people (from electronics to autos) tell me CR aren't all that great. I still give em a look but dont place all my faith in them like I used to do.

Truck will be for hauling, camping, shitty winter days, maybe plowing my driveway... def. dont want a van or hybrid. Just something with decent power, AWD, medium bed. I would def. consider buying used, preferably 07+

The truck is not going to be my "nice" car, in fact I have never owned a car nicer than a civic and I can finally afford to do so. With the car I am more concerned with buying exactly what I want, regardless of resale value. I am not opposed to buying a 2010 model of one of the cars I am considering (except the 335 which I may hold out for the new model base) but it is hard to find ones with the color/option combo(s) I like. The truck is more of an after thought, for when I dont want to shit up my car. I have never owned a truck and I am always having to borrow a friends for random shit.

Not sure, i bought it from the original seller, and dont remember the mileage that was on it at the time.... it wasnt much tho and I never change the timing belt. Maybe why the engine blew, but whateve, I was kind of hopiing it would happen. Thing was beginning to eat oil.

It's a pickup truck, it doesn't need to be updated. What do you think people use pickup trucks for?

And the article in Car & Driver did not indicate it was being discontinued. It may be merged with some of Ford's global lines, but it's virtually the only pickup in its weight class still in production so I doubt it's going anywhere.
