What kind of shoes for the gym? - Page 2

Beat-ass chucks for me, and I mean holes, seams coming apart beat to shit chucks. I really should throw them out, but the sole is so thin and compacted that it's almost like going barefoot.

Anything with a flat sole.

Chucks, Vans, whatever.

The forward wedge is essential. You can complete both lifts without Oly shoes, but not with nearly as much weight. In order to get low enough to get under a really heavy 2nd pull, you need the wedge or you will simply fall backwards if you try to get that low.

Nike Frees... Solid shoes, haven't had any problems with them. My buddy used to give me shit for wearing Jack Purcell's to the gym.

Does your buddy squat? deadlift? Flat soles (or weightlifting shoes, the Eddy Greens of the iron world) are the shiznit for those, my friend.

i used to think chucks were good to squat in til i bought some real weightlifting shoes

the difference was like night and day, especially if you squat narrow stance/high bar

Any sneaker with a good sole will do. I only wear running shoes because that's all that fits me. Hasn't hurt one bit.

Either you wear shoes that fit or you go barefoot. When you squat and dead just take off your shoes.
