Anyone know their way around the Ontario provincial court system? Got into a smidgen of trouble in international waters this weekend. Kind of cool being an international criminal.

Pio will deny it, but he is a born and raised upper Canadian. He can counsel you on anything from the inefficiencies of the tax system to how to treat a beaver bite.

Tax system there is very efficient. F***ers never missed a penny!

As someone that was once part of the boating scene there, I would guess you either got caught with some booze violations in Canadian waters or for some reason landed on the Canadian side without the proper paperwork or not calling in? In either case, get a good lawyer. He's expensive but Ducharme always seemed to handle Probert's problems pretty well.

If your boat is still in your posession, i.e. not impounded, you're already ahead of the game.

Not quite that dramatic. I got busted for fishing without a license. I thought (based on what I understood the girl at CT told me - on the civic holiday too ) that all I had to have was a sportsmans card, and didnt realize that I had to renew my paper license. $155cad fine or I can go to court and usually they will knock it down. Having never been to a Canadian court, I wondered what the protocol/procedure was vs the US.

You'll be going to see a justice of the peace, not a real judge. If you explain your situation I'm sure you'll get the fine reduced. It's really easy to do. You don't even have to plea not guilty.
