Most probably dont on a daily basis, but maybe on certain occasions.

If you stop me while shopping, at work, or in my local pub you wont find mine, but catch me at a wedding, slack day in the park, sporting event (where I think I can smuggle it in), boat ride, etc and you may be welcome to a swig.

Mine is pewter on the outside, I believe stainless on the inside. Initials on the front and birthday on the back. Beat to hell and all the better for it. Filled with Bourbon, likely Beam. Either stuck in the back pocket of my jeans or in the pocket of my messenger bag.

When I was in a band (and 10+ years younger), 2 or 3 of us in the band always carried flasks. Me, the guitarist, and the manager (both of whom are two of my best friends). We'd walk around, particularly in winter, with our respective beverages (I went for bourbon, my boys were either scotch or brandy). I have 3 but don't use mine as much any more. However, with football season and crisp fall and winter walks with the wife coming up, I'll be putting in Jim Beam 8 year.

Dump most of the water out and cover the opening, then shake it around, empty and rinse a lot.

Remember, alcohol kills germs. Other stuff besides alcohol can corrode your flask or get the inside sticky and host growth.

Here's another site's recommendation, sounds like it would work for any musty smell issues:

Another idea, I was once told to use denture cleanser for the inside -- the tablet type that you add to water. Seemed to make sense but I never tried it.

Odor,

Noting the tone of Kent's post and the generally ornery attitude of the Azn Txn, I would be wary in the Austin area.

The Azns are feisty. Tiny and quick. I have been fending them off all over town Hong Kong the past few days as they try to ladle me with plastic rectangular framed glasses, Elbow length striped gloves, etc...

Luckily, some Azn blood runs strong through the K. I can instinctively anticipate their moves and via some intricate tactics can maneuver the shopping quagmire!!!

Actually, Kent is one of the few that I believe carries a flask. It makes sense. A Southern Slav such as myself cant even get a buzz from downing the contents of a flask, an Azn on the other hand can get piss drunk from downing the contents of a flask.

Yes, validation by Azn

I had a Korean friend in my dorm in Unversity. Sollid as a rock in every other way. Big guy, shaved head, gambled like a fiend, Azn gangsta...

But would only drink peach schnapps. And he had to have a towel at the ready to wipe the sweat from his ever reddening face the more shots he drank. He would polish 7 or 8 shots, then it was wait time. He would either explode into a ball of party rage and carnage continuing through the weekend... Or his eyelids would sag and he would roll over and pass out on his back like my girlfriends cat.

Otherwise known as "Asian flush". I'm Filipino and my forehead gets extremely red whenever I drink.

Drinking a cocktail for breakfast every morning has vastly improved my tolerance for alcohol.

this thread is an eyeopener. who knew all these geezers were carrying flasks???

so where do you keep it? I'd imagine they are bulky and not easily stuffable into pockets (other than heavy winter coats). Or do you have flask holsters?

Back in the old country this is a common practice. My grandmother used it to great effect.

Exactly, thank you. It's not like you have to carry it every day, but on days when it might be nice, why not take it along just in case? Does no one else find a drink or two nice, without feeling the need to get tanked?

If I'm wearing a blazer or suit, it goes in the interior pocket; if I'm wearing jeans, it goes in the back pocket. Mine, given to me by a friend, has "...by which we endure the operation of life" engraved in the back, the last half of a Shaw quote: "Alcohol is the anesthesia by which we endure the operation of life".

I carry it in a pocket in my brief. I have also carried it in my jeans, but I worry about sitting on it for no good reason. Regards, Huntsman
