I think that no matter where you go in the Boston area you will paying about the same price. Although there are differing opinions on affixing rubber soles to leather soled shoes, it does have its virtues here in the Northeast.

Felix is closed for renovations for the next six months. May I recommend, however, Tony of "Cambridge Instant Shoe Repair" a few blocks down the street, one block down from the Inn at Harvard?

Despite the store's corny name, Tony at the booth seemed to know his stuff, recognizing Lobbs with one appreciative look and stating that they had worked on many such shoes. $32 for Vibram rubbers on soles and heels, evenly applied with no problems.

Thanks for the review. Since Felix closed, I have been contemplating using this place for our shoe repairs.

anyone know of a place in Boston to get something like a low profile commando sole?

my RM Williams boots with rubber sole are nearly unusable in the winter. treacherous on ice. looking to get something safer on there.

bumping an old thread to say that I went into Colonial Shoe Repair today on Summer St. and the proprietor was both knowledgeable and friendly. I'll be going there soon for some business.
