Don't. You will rarely need to wear one. If you absolutely must, do something cheap like Indochino. It will be 10000x better than anything your peers will have, and nobody around you will even understand the difference between an Indochino and a Kiton. Getting anything better will be pointless. Invest the rest in getting nicer stuff that you will wear everyday.

Seriously folks, telling a college student he should be looking for a quality suit is just insane. Have we lost touch with what it means to be in college?

you probably will need a suit if you have formal meetings with professors and higher ups...your peers will definitely not know much about suits but on the other hand, your professors might. and you never know, maybe they might ask you about your suit lol

I've never seen an undergrad wear a suit to meet with a professor. The only time I usually see undergrads wear suits is in their last year for honors thesis presentations, graduation, or if they are going to interview for jobs.

Live off ramen and cup noodles and buy only Rick Owens and Julius.

Also keep in mind if you dress like folks on here do, you WILL be made fun of by your insecure college buddies. You'll end wearing your clothes slimmer and be paying more attention to detail, and a lot of guys are intimidated by that. However, you'll get more tail than the whole lot.

What is up with that model in the middle? He looks like Rachel Dratch from Saturday Night live, why would Rick Owens have a model with any body fat?

Right fit legitimately smashes cleft, though.

go into a college party dressed sf-approved... and act on the same level as ur upper level steez. it's so fking easy, like killiing fish in a barrel... with dynamite.

Am lazy and didnt read the whole thread. Did OP state what college he was going? I saw some hate on boat shoes and other fratty clothes...well that stuff works well in the south but maybe not in SoCal. The region where the school is will influence what clothes he could wear if he wants to fit in....or wear SF approved clothing and look like a douche bag.

My advice is to wear what your peers are wearing. Plus its college, no one really cares that much as long as you look somewhat normal. Have a seperate wardrobe for nicer occasions but on a regular basis, you're gonna worry more about getting to class when you overslept the alarm (again) than picking your clothes from a pile of laundry.
