I just cannot understand why anyone pays so much money to please others! 2k will get you a very nice holiday indeed, let alone 20k on one day for loads of people you don't know that well....
Mind boggling.
If I had 20k available (say from parents from both sides) I'd spend 2k on the wedding, and put the rest down as a deposit on a new family home - something that's real and will appreciate, and be part of my estate.
Any extra cash available I'd put in a fund for future children, and my wife and I's pension (rock n roll I know
)
