Will the EG store affect your purchases from the other EG stockists?

How will the opening of the shop affect your buys this season of EG from the independent shop?

Unless they have a webshop, I think I'll be sticking with my usual spots...and also due to store loyalty =)

I'm assuming the Nepenthes store will stock a much wider variety of EG merchandise, like the more outlandish pieces only found in Japan. That being the case, I would seek the store out only for those pieces.

^I have a similar take on that. I will buy first from the shops I'm loyal to if they have pieces in common. Are people waiting to see what the store has available before pulling the trigger on something in the other shops?

When's the opening of the store? And will there be a webshop??

I'd be very surprised if they did a webshop. It seems to me that the EG store's main purpose it to carry items that other stockists won't. I would think that having a webshop would hurt stockists and therefore hurt EG's marketing because they are not a retail chain and depend on the smaller stores for a more relational kind of marketing of their pieces.

IMHO, while some may find a benefit in getting most or all or their purchases from a single place, most will still gravitate towards stock and size availablility, like myself. So unless you're local to the shop or relatively near, I dont see any real benefit for out of state, or out of country, buyers other than the unique items to that store.

I'm in agreement with what most of you said as well. Since I'm on the West Coast, I won't be able to go to the EG store unless I'm on vacation so I'm probably more likely to just buy local where I can see and try on the stuff and I've had good experiences buying from the guys at Context and also buying from Gary and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from either of them again. I think my answer is if they don't do web/phone orders it won't affect my purchases. If they do web/phone orders it may affect it slightly since I will probably check their store when I'm considering my purchase. It won't automatically be the first place I'd go to but, I'd consider it.

Odin has been my go to store for EG since Farinelli's dropped out. However, I am anticipating an avenue which offers more variety. I will be waiting until the Nepenthes opens (note, I am 20 miles from NYC).

i think it will curb my purchasing. with more of a selection i'll make sure to curate my buys to only what i really need (read: want horribly) there aren't any EG buyers that i'm particularly loyal to, with the exception of gary at drinkwaters.

i'll buy from whereever has the lowest price incl shipping. when prices are the same, i'll opt for independent stockists

It will all depend on the stock and the sales. I don't think I've ever bought an EG piece that was over 50% of its original price. Living in NYC there's always a good stock left when sale season rolls around. I'm hoping the new shop furthers my choices by increasing stock levels in the city overall.

If I lived in NYC, I might feel differently about it, but I'm happy buying online from my regular stockists. Plus, Gary is right near me. Think I'll be dropping in there in a couple days. - Keith

In general, it won't affect where I shop at all. I mostly base my purchases on the inventory that each stockist carries as prices are generally the same across the board. I'd be just as willing to purchase from the EG store as I would from any other stockist. That being said, loyalty plays into it heavily when multiple stockists are carrying the same item. If Gary, Context, Bows + Arrows and Legion are all carrying the Rust/Navy/Red Work Shirt (for example), I'll buy from Gary as I consider myself a loyal customer of his.
