I was confused when you said it at first. Does it bother you when I do it? I try to only talk about things I'm knowledgeable about (IRL. Online I just blather on about anything), and the only two things I know well are food/restaurant culture and different methods of pleasuring myself. I figure one makes better dinner conversation than the other. If it makes you feel better, my friend, I had never heard the name Danny Meyer until I opened this thread.

i know the diner you're talking about, and for the most part I agree on the excessive (and usually baseless) zeal But usually I'm looking across the table at something much more interesting than nameless diners so I usually don't notice it too much.

I have to admit that the online dating threak has been more interesting than anything I've seen on TV in years. Far more entertaining than Snooki, not that I would know anything about that of course.

I didn't realize that foodie now automatically carries a negative connotation. Sort of like the word dandy. Interesting.
