Yet to see knits below $100 that has caught my eye.

Cannot stress this enough. Do not pollute thread with non-epicurean knits. They suck. I am suspicious that someone has already defiled the temple by posting that YMC thing but I will give benefit of the doubt.

Not to sound too elitist but almost all the good knits I've seen are at least in the $150-$200 range. This Raf T-neck is so damn goofy, and I want one.

150-200 is not remotely elitist for knits. It's borderline plebian. 2000+ only would approach elitism.

^BP: What retails in that price range? Can't think of anything I've seen that retails for less than 250.... RE non-baller knits: Club Monaco and Reiss are your best bet SFAIK, if pretty boring. The usual mall brand/mass market suspects usually fall apart very quickly. edit: PM me if you want to talk about non-baller shit, let's continue this thread in the spirit of the OP.

I don't buy retail I meant what a nonballer should expect to pay to get something decent.

^lol for sure, I don't buy retail either. You shouldn't let noobs expect that they can get great knits for 150-250 though. Keep them on their toes.

Ah. What we have here is a failure to communicate. If you mean 2ndhand then yeah you can get Jil cashmeres for 200 or less (especially if you're a 52eu, shameless plug). Though I pay retail for SNS, finding their winter stuff 2ndhand in M is kinda tough, I imagine because no one wants to give theirs up. I guess full price at yoox is still way less than retail but I'll pay that for some stuff. If I didn't have to pay rent at the end of the month I'd be kopping left and right of there right now.

all my knits were purchased for under $300, and both the mmm and jil were under $100 in a hardly used state... it just takes patience and a discerning eye

Also just because SNS is been getting play for only a few seasons. I bet next year there's be at least a handful of SNS in various sizes on B+S and ebay.

Some of the knits I listed have been bought for retail (so, I dunno, $400-650) but others have been acquired on sale and some were even second-hand (ebay, B&S SZ/Sufu). My Branquinho knit probably cost me $200 or so, V&R maybe $120, purple Ann D $200-250 etc. So it gets pricey when you want a specific piece but if you get lucky and generally look for something it is possible to acquire good stuff for realtively cheap.

Yeah I'm going to put up a navy cashmere v-neck as well in case someone bigger than I am now wants to make baller threshold or as we're apparently now calling it, epicurean threshold. I like epicurean better, not gonna lie.

SNS gets play just because of the really wide variety of textures that aren't super chunk and they're kind of underpriced imo. Not that chunky is bad it's just grandpa-ish which is not what everyone necessarily wants. I should put up better pics of the SNS in that stack from last page later.

Fuuma the problem is there aren't as many good knits out there as there are good, say, jackets, or boots or whatever. Meanwhile you only really need a couple jackets and boots whereas you can have like 15-20 good knits reasonably. You kind of have to get them as they appear or pay retail when they're in season I find. Maybe I'm just not that great at deal hunting though.

^Partly depends on your size I think. For instance, Small and XS fly off the racks at the start of the season but then get pretty decent second-hand circulation (though arguably a lot of the really great stuff that gets bought up at retail probably never greats re-circulated), whereas as L and XL make it to the deeper discounts more frequently and probably don't get traded quite as much.

mj knits are suberb and veeerrry easy to get for cheap, FYI.
