Boots

What kind of boots are appropriate for winter? I'm thinking of having to walk through some slush and wet sidewalks while wearing either a suit or slacks and a sport coat with either my topcoat or raincoat.

I plan to take my shoes to change into with me.

I'm thinking something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Opinions?

Yep, those are perfect. Get them. I particularly enjoy the duck bill like qualities of the front of the toes.

They're hideous and not suitable for the purpose you mention. Then again, they're $29 and you seem to like them.

What do you think makes those boots attractive or suitable?

No, I guess they're not the best for ice, but I really like the 'duck bill' look. I don't want to wear them every day because my new Cole Haans are great and very comfortable, but on occasion, they'd break up the routine.

The price is attractive, as you noted, and they could be easily mistaken for a higher priced boot if kept nice.

I followed the other link and really liked the brown Loake boots; very nice. Coming from the UK, however, they'd probably cost almost as much to ship as it would to purcahse them.

You won't find much love for that look here - it's pretty much universally reviled in the SF community, and, to my mind, for good reason.

Shipping from the UK isn't that bad. Certainly nowhere near as much as the price of a pair of quality boots.

No.

Shipping from UK is usually only ~20-30 dollars. It isn't bad. As for which dress boots, pretty much all the dress boots you would want can be had in Danite/Vibram soles. But having non-leather sole is not going to save your shoes from being destroyed by trekking through the slush. Maybe you can try Cordovan, but don't think Calf has the durability.

R.M Williams - Comfort Craftsman I have even used them with a suit when the weather was really bad. They come with a rubber sole if you want, so it's nice for the winter. The quality is really good, and they are popular in Norway. I guess cangaroo is pretty resistant to our climate, with care of course.

If you live in my part of the world, those square toes come in handy when you have them altered by adding some flat steel plates that stick straight out from them. Great for chopping ice.

Google Delli Aldo and then just "Aldo". Delli aldo shoes are like $20+ ... aldo is its own store, also has good ass dress casuals for like $40-80 You really only need like 4 pairs of shoes.. Sneakers, Dress, Dress casual, gym Of course if you wanna mix up colors (brown and black dress, diff color sneaks, etc) then it can get extensive.
