The common safeword used in SF meetups is well-documented: Connemara's real name.

Friends are always important, but so far my middle/high-school friends have been the closest.

After that period there never seemed to be the time to dedicate to developing those close friendships - no 6 hours after school every day just hanging out doing nothing, or 3 months doing the same over long and lazy summers.

No forced interaction through proximity - now if I fall out with someone we just lose touch rather than being forced to reconcile at school or because our group of 20 people hangs out together all the time.

Once you and everyone you know gets goals and responsibilities and families there's not much time left for anything else. Depressing, really. Anyone else finding this?

Another reason to stay single through your 20s.

I've got some great friends I've only met recently (say 2009-2010), that friendship ends at college bullshit is for people who stop having a life after college.

It isn't a hard rule, but generally people who have real jobs find it harder to make time for making new bonds after college. Obviously those rules do not apply when the amount of free time you have after graduation stays the same or increases due to a third party financially supporting you, fuuma.

C'mon, it is bullshit and you know it. You spend a large amount of time in social situations (bars, clubs, restaurants), you surely meet people (or could) aside from the girls you intend to fuck. Let's say you work 70hrs a week (30hrs whateveritisthatyoudo + 40 hrs styleforum), you still have plenty of time to socialize.

I do, but it's not the same. Getting out of work at 8 or 9pm and trying to have a social life with friends while at the same time maintaining gym/sleep/chicks etc. is not easy. You end up seeing friends on weekends at bars or dinners. When you have multiple groups of friends you see each maybe once a week. This leaves precious little time for new people. And even if you do meet new bros, you don't have entire days for hanging out and doing jack shit like in school. That's how I think relationships are made - not in a loud bar.

Most important are those with whom I regularly sup. Ages range from 30 years younger to 30 years older. A few date from childhood ... a good number I knew in school (prep & college) ... a very few are professional colleagues ... a couple are neighbors ... most were met via other friends

I find the people I met when I was 13 and still keep in close contact with years on to be the most important.
