Canada Goose Banff Parka - Page 3

Anyone have a fit pic of the Banff? Its supposed to be slimmer but maybe not as slim as the Japanese line?

Hey guys, just signed up to post this.

I bought the Banff parka in black last week. I'm 6'4 and 195 lbs, and got it in Large. I usually wear tight clothes, but the Medium definitely did not fit me. But then again, I have pretty broad shoulders and long arms. Remeber that the parka is defined as "Slim Fit", so even the Large is not that bulky, nothing like the Expedition!

That said, I'm going to return it today. After wearing it, I noticed something I didn't notice at the store: complete lack of neck protection/insulation. The zip stops at the base of the neck, so you absolutely need to wear it with a scarf when it's really cold/snowing. I like to zip my parkas all the way up, so you don't need a scarf and it warms your ears. You can always clip the hoodie clips without putting it on, but even then it's not that warm.

Also, you need gloves because the pockets are horizontal so you can't put your hands in them without looking funny.

I'm going to exchange it for the Chateau. Hope it helps!

Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents out there on the sizing...

I'm 5'10, 165 (34 inch waist) and got a Medium Banff - and I feel like it is too small. The sleeves are a bit short, and it's extremely uncomfortable if I ever want to try and put my hands in my pockets.

I am definitely going to have to size up to a large. Just as a comparison, i tried on an Expedition locally here in NYC and it was a little too big.

Back to an earlier topic in the thread - what do you guys think of the Brown Banff vs. the Black. I have the black now, but am debating on getting the brown when I exchange since I can't find a Black L anywhere.

Stick with black. Brown is a much less versatile colour.

It's difficult to just generalize like that. Black is a much more versatile color in terms of my wardrobe, but I know quite a few people where brown would be a much better color. It really depends on how you generally dress, IMO. I think a poster like mellowfellow would prefer brown much more than black, for example. You really can't just make a blanket statement like that.

I'm in Montreal, and I paid 450$ +tx at Simons on Ste-Cath. It was 100$ off the regular price because they say they want to compete with all the stores downtown.

I personally preferred the black one, because I wanted to wear it with casual jeans or work suits.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah - that's why I was partial towards black too. I'll mostly be wearing this parka on those frigid NYC nights when I am going out to dinner/drinks and having to a) walk to the subway or b) find a cab (if you have ever tried catching a cab in the middle of winter at 3AM in NYC, you know it can be brutal). As my work is pretty casual, I'll also probably wear it for the commute (I walk about 20 mins to work each way).

I have a nice cashmere coat to wear with suits or when I want something a little less casual, and a regaular black wool coat that is a little lighter weight as well.

I feel like the black is more versatile, but don't really know if it matters so much if I am just wearing it with jeans. Plus... I already have 2 black winter coats.

I feel like I am trying to talk myself into the brown because I know I can get it and the black I'll have to hunt for...lol

Am I gonna hate myself if I settle for the brown rather than the black? Here's the only pic I could find of someone actually wearing the brown:

^^^Thanks for the link! I actually tried to order the green one through Amazon but they couldn't deliver to europe, not even to an APO address Might have been a blessing in disguise though as I ended up (after much deliberation) ordering the Manitoba Jacket in Graphite from the good guys at Context (terrific service). It just suits my needs better...lots of pockets, zips right up to the chin, removable hood, handwarmers, grey so I could wear it with brown and black, subtle branding, slim fit. Can't wait to put it on and go out there in the cold!
