Canada Goose Banff Parka

For everyday winter use (In the cold winters of Canada)

Military Green or Black?
I know military colors are really in right now but I don't know if I can wear this jacket with a shirt and maybe a blazer under?

http://www.canada-goose.com/products...n/banff-parka/

FYI I own no other black 'winter coat'. My only other winter coat is a Canada Goose PBI Blue chilliwack.

Oh and I know the picture from GQ is the Expedition, it was just to give an idea because I can't find any pictures of someone wearing the black Banff.

And... If you're wondering why I'm getting a coat so soon... These things are sold out by early October in Montreal. Unless you're ready to pay a premium.

Yo dude, I live in Montreal too and just bought this Japanese CG from someone on this board: Both of the jackets you just posted look huge and bulky. I'd recommend getting a Japanese one or at least finding a model that doesn't have giant pockets all over it. Chateau and Ontario both seem cool. Also, from what I've heard about CG jackets, you are not going to want to wear a blazer underneath. You can probably get away with a shirt though; I plan to wear mine shirtless.

Thanks for the quick reply. But I really have my heart set on the Banff. It's really not as bulky as the Expedition.. It resembles the Ontario just with smaller pockets. However the Chateau I might consider.
I guess the better question would be - I could pull off a Military Green (that's the one I prefer right now) for the whole winter while wearing shirts under. I don't want to get sick of it after a few times of wearing it.. whereas the Black would just always be fine, right?

Nice coat BTW!
I just got this one - And the budget doesn't allow for three Canada Goose coats.

I like that blue one. If you really have your heart set on the bamff ... well, it really depends on what you generally wear. I like the military green more, but black is going to be more versatile, obviously.

You're right. Black banff it is.
Thanks for knocking some sense into me.

I've got a similar style, and I can attest to the oversizing. I'm 5'10", 195lb and I own a Small. I have enough room to layer a thick sweater under it too.

Great jacket though - the warmest one that I've ever owned.

Thanks but I wasn't really looking for Japanese models as they are usually slimmer with less insulation. I need something warm for everyday. Thanks though! http://www.harryrosen.com/eng/produc...parka?53550513

I know they're slimmer but I've never heard anything about them being less warm.
^ they're not, I've had both (NA & JP) and they're pretty much the same, in fact I currently have a super slim jp version of the lodge? model, not sure, and its feels warmer than the NA version constable which was puffier; it seems theres diff types and grades of insulation per model, this super thin one is 750 DF I believe whereas the cons and chili were 650 DF if I remember correctly.

well, we'll see if i freeze to death in the calgary i got
post #13 of 39
^I dont think you will freeze, its all in the layering really, the calgary is just a solid top layer coat, on those freaking unbearable windchill days come Jan/Feb just add a couple layers under it and you'll be fine, besides aint you got cold blood anyway bro? j/k
post #14 of 39
damn, was hoping i could just wear a tee under it, haha
post #15 of 39
personally with just a tshirt under Im fine down to about -10C without even zipping all the way up, with a long sleeve thermal I can tolerate down to -20C no/windchill or about -15C +windchill, anything lower than that and I have to add a sweater to keep comfortably warm and loose. Having said that, Im from the south originally, only been in toronto for last 5 years so people that were born in this kind of weather have a diff tolerance to it, its crazy really come march even though its still like -5C to -10C sometimes I start seeing people jogging in shorts and tshirts and shit, so ymmv.
