Mercedes Benz R350? - Page 2

We were in a same boat as you about a year ago. With the new baby commiing we wanted a larger car that was an AWD for the winter. We test drove tons of cars and got an Audi Q5. We really like it, it is fun to drive, fairly luxurious, big enough for the baby and all the crap when we have to go to the inlaws and is not a huge car to haul around. Nock on wood so far we had no problem with it. We never thought we would end up with a Q5 untill we test drove it. MDX for us felt boring and underpowered for its size when we test drove it yet it was our number one choice before it. Test drive several and there is a good chance you might end up with a car you did not at first think of

We just went from a Boxster to a C-class. I don't really think you need anything larger than a 4 door for just a baby. I'd get a 3-series wagon if you need more trunk space.

You need room for the stroller and diaper bag, so I'd say a standard four-door, four-seater is a bit tight. People do it, of course, but you can be a big baller.

Why not look at the smaller SUVs or something like a 3-series / 5-series wagon or an Audi Avant (if you're inclined to go Euro)?

Why no love for the R series? One of my friends has one and it has been very reliable and carries his clan in comfort. Not my choice but not bad.

Do any of you have experience with the BMW X3? That's another possibility.

My folks have an R and it is the best car for taking kids to college. Just a ton of space. We're not sure how other people do it.

Not as comfortable as a Merc should be, though.
