Short answer: +10% in asking price = no sale.

I can only speak to the kind of wares that interest this forum, but in the high end clothing category prices peaked in 2005, and have been flat or have fallen quite a bit since. I could have sold a large percentage of items for more money in 2000 than I could right now. The market dictates the price and the market is lousy these days.

+1 Ebay can only temporarily try to make up for falling revenues by increasing FVF. Ultimately it only serves to further suppress sales as sellers can't afford to be there and buyers look elsewhere for better deals.

Most of what I see is at the JC Penney level.

Still curious. Any of you experienced eBayers know of anything similar on Amazon/elsewhere?

What's your theory on this? Don't recall the economy being that bad 2005.
