Speeding tickets in NY

Got a speeding ticket some weeks ago. Several people are telling me to go to court because, allegedly, the state is not paying overtime to state troopers and thus they will not show and the ticket will be tossed. Any NYers know if this is the case right now?

Depends on the locale - some of them have time built in to their week for such things. Even if they do show up, there is a good shot that you can have the ticket reduced.

Go to court. I went to court 3 times for tickets in NY state and had them all dropped to non-moving violations (no points) with $100 or so fines. The cops were there 2 out of the 3 times. Just don't go in looking/acting like an asshole and you'll be fine.

My apologies ahead of time. I'm not sure how things work in NY, as I'm in CA, but here you have a better chance having the case totally dismissed by trial through mail. Not sure if that's an option there, but definitely something to look into.

Do people go with a lawyer for speeding tickets? Rube, unfortunately for me I am drinking buddies with the wrong county sheriff.
