I find that I am treated differently when I wear a suit when I go out than when I were my vinyl thong, handcuffs, patent leather boots and ball gag.

the point i was trying to make - you cannot judge someones wealth or class or backgtround based on their clothes. some poor people wear $10k in clothes regularly ...some "rich" wear an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt..

its a ridiculous post to begin with and in an ideal world wouldbe deleted promplty with the poster banned permamently from al gores internet

You obviously missed the point of his post completely, which was not about wealth, but how he felt the level of customer service changed based on his wearing a suit. Its hardly ridiculous, and its hardly a stretch. Your focus on money says more about you than anything else.

That being said, the observation that people who take care to maintain themselves and look better will receive better service is hardly revelatory. Was still a nice story to read, so thanks to the OP for sharing.

hello,
i could not disagree more. if someone treats you based on how you look, they are shallow and do not deserve acknoledgement, let alone a top.

my focus on money? my point is - be it a restuarant or a car showroom..you cant judege someone by their clothing...

if you thought that was a nice story, i recommend you try reading a book...gullivers travels may be a good place to begin.

Seriously it's time for you to look in the mirror. In an ideal world we not stereotype based on clothing, but as humans we categorize people on appearance. There is no getting around this other than to consciously attempt to minimize this tendency. If I actually walked down the street in nothing but a thong and ball gag, you would treat me exactly the same? I don't think so.

This is impossible to answer in the abstract. Can you try it out on your lunch break and report back the results?

Nice affirmation bias.

Does your ball gag match your patent leather boots?

Waitresses love seeing the 'cat brains.'

u really cant generalize people on their dressing people can dress what they want and how do u know that those people are posing? maybe they wear them because they have to even if they dont have to why cant they wear suit on weekend? is there such rule that you are not allowed to wear suit on weekend unless you are a millionaire? and heck how do u even know that they are not millionaire?

By giving her the tip given her poor service, are you not implicitly reinforcing her to give poor service?

This would be a great social experiment!
