4 of my 45rpms are Sorahikos in different dyes (Nando, Suminando, etc), which are harder to find these days.

Love the streakiness of the denim. I find a lot of my natural indigo jeans are like that, but the Shoai is on another level.

Lucky Brand and 7 for all mankind. Fits well and the material is soft.

+1 on RB6, but I don't think you can get them anywhere anymore. I keep patching the crotch on mine, since even though I have several other pairs, I always want to wear the RB6. Back to the sewing machine...

I'm going to ask an exceedingly stupid question.

What makes genuine denim jeans better than stuff like Joes Jeans which are mostly cotton? From what I've read about denim, it is very stiff and it shrinks and fades every time you wash it. Cotton seems like it would be so much more comfortable (disclaimer - I never have worn real denim jeans apparently).

Is it just the history and heritage of real denim?

Zegna Sport. I recently bought a pair, they are very light jeans and have some stretch to them. Super comfortable.

Genuine denim jeans use 128oz real selvedge wax leather coated fabrics and finishes which Japanese Samurais appropriated after westerners that used to visit Japan always lost their denim to them in battle. Obviously there were no zippers back then so they had to use leather lacing(kind of like a corset) for where the fly was, and it was in a completely different cut from jeans nowadays, much more JNCO like.

I feel like a man now that I've bought some AG jeans. My masculinity was in peril before so.

Most jeans are 100% cotton, even the highest end ones. The difference comes from the use of premium cotten, weaving using shuttle looms, using natural indigo or other special dyes, and last but not least, the different cuts and fits. All this give them characteristics not available to most mass manufactured jeans.

Raw denim is stiff until worn for a while, shrinkage is only once, and fading occurs with all jeans. That is why you don't wash jeans often, only when absolutely necessary.
