Can I steam iron a silk tie? - Page 2

I actually do a combo of what's mentioned above. I will put steam up to the tie, enough to loosen the fibres, and then loosely roll it starting at the thin end.

I find the slight tension by rolling along with the light steaming works well. Nice thing too is if you roll it right, the roll on the edges of the tie do not get pressed down at all (because of the way a tie tapers).

I've had good luck steaming wrinkles out of ties. I hold the tie in one hand and hold the iron in the other to blow steam on the front side of the tie. After a couple minutes, even sharp wrinkles come out. I've had no trouble with water spots or anything else.

Of course, the preferred method is to loosely coil the tie and let it rest a day, but this won't take out the worst wrinkles.
