What should I pay on sale?

this is a thread to help people get a sense of what good sale prices for SF approved/designer clothes are:

dior homme--50% off at least, since like 95% of stuff makes it to this markdown at the boutique around end of season, 60% off if you buy at the outlet (they get a lot of stuff, you'd be surprised)

RLBL -- 60-75% off, if you are impatient then 40-50% off at the friends and family sale

these are the two brands i buy a lot of, im curious how much people pay for lanvin, jil, mmm, etc

I never pay more than 50% of msrp unless it's something fantastic I will not likely find at a discount. If it's a "store brand" - j crew, etc I use gift cards off ebay combined with 20% coupons if it's store bought. Often I can just be patient and see it hit the sale rack or eBay. Some techniques I can't detail because if there were others finding them the way I found them the well would dry up. For instance I just got 2 pairs of shell aldens for $425 total. eBay is great though, if you're pro at sniffing things out. I just got a pair of Rag and bone selvedge jeans that fit me perfectly for $40. Sooo... "good sale prices" are just relevant to your budget and what you consider a good deal to be. Btw "SF approved" seems a little elitist imho. I'd like to think people of any budget can find good advice here even if they're limited to non "SF approved" clothing.

The deals you get are used items, right? Just wondering here.

Not used usually, unless it's an ebay "worn once and it didn't fit" type of thing. The aldens were new. I am a master at getting deals on things.

KitAkira is still probably better at it than I am. Watch lists, bookmarks for certain brands and sizes. Common misspellings or people that are dumb and list "brown pair of shoes" and then you look at the photos and they're aldens or Crockett and Jones or something. You also have to watch out because there's people that use keywords or intentionally are deceptive with terms, like cordovan. You'll see someone say "cordovan shoes" but they mean cordovan the color, not the material. (That makes me .) Always know what price is reasonable, it's easy to get in a bidding war if you don't know the historical value of something. I've also been successful at picking stuff up that's *not* my size and relisted it with better photos and description and made easy money off of it.

i think this thread will help a lot of people who want to buy from supermarket/B&S. prices are all over the place, some people sell their rick for 800 others sell for 1600 some sell for like 2000. what actually sells? what price did they originally pay?

yes everything goes on sale to 50% off. heck those under my car 2009 that people are selling for 550 were on sale for 275 at the end of that summer season. mulholland drive wash made it to outlet for 60% off in almost all sizes at the end of this season.

on the other hand i think the majority (50% +) of posters can only afford/willing to buy $1000+ jackets at 50, if not 85% off. like i will look through luisaviaroma and see lots of cool things, but i only consider items from brands that i know will have pretty good sales to bring it down to an affordable range. it would help people on this forum to know what they can expect (like an average markdown) for brands

rag and bone i rarely see at big markdowns, though the sample sales are very good. more input as to availability of items/sizes at various discount levels would definitely be appreciated.

i always seem to have good luck browsing the BS, ebay and local outlets...

i once saw some ben sherman x barracuta Harrington at the rack but they didn't have my size but they were marked down to $60 form 400 or something.
