Having some job issues

Here is the deal: my immediate supervisor has asked my colleagues and I to work for two months straight with no time off. This is sort of a non-traditional job in which I already work unusual and long hours...often, 9 or 10 AM thru 8 or 9 PM. But currently we get some time off here and there (nominally, two days a week, but it never quite works out like that). We are thinking about going to one of our higher-ups and inquiring about getting some sort of relief. Maybe one day per week, or two half days, I don't know. It doesn't really matter, I just want time to actually do the things that normal people need to do. Laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I have some reservations about bypassing my supervisor, but as one of my co-workers said he is not receptive to this idea. We're not sure what to do but we have agreed that we'll present a united front on this. Thoughts on what to do? Is it wrong to ask for this?

Is there someone willing to do your job who will jump in at a moment's notice if you hesitate? This is not the ideal job market to refuse overtime.

Seriously. At first I thought that Conne meant that he would not be able to take any extra days off (vacation, personal days, whatever) for two months. But no weekends or regular days off for two freaking months??

Brutal, but this is an employer's market. I did a similar stretch on the road many years back, not fun but feasible.

Are you getting anything in return for this 2-month deal? I'd like to think there's a pot of gold at the end of that rainstorm.

Yeah, I may try to acquire a promise of a permanent job. But all of that depends on the will of Amurkan voters.

Tough it out, dude. You will have to adapt, and find ways to manage time better. This will help you in the long run.

That is what I have been leaning towards, mainly because I don't want to sound whiny, and because I don't want to make them hesitate about helping me with a job later on. I don't get OT.

This will toughen you up for more demanding jobs in the future. If you have no wife, or kids... I don't see why you shouldn't take the challenge.
