I think just about every one I have seen has this feature.

I am also now looking at the Bosch 500 series, look pretty good and I can get the W+D @ a pretty good deal for about $1800 (instead on $2300)

I guess I can understand buying a new washer (the front loaders are neat--but how do you soak clothes in them?) but why a new dryer? This whole idea that they have to match seems like quite a racket to me.

I have a Stacked Maytag 500 series or something like that. It is better in every way compared to my parents Bosh units. It is super quiet, has very impressive weight, and hinges, and the steam cycle in the dryer to remove wrinkles works perfect.

You are probably using too much soap. Make sure you buy the "HE" soap, and you need a very little amount. I was amazed at how little i have to use, and yet the clothes come out so clean.

I have a Miele and love it. I believe one of the aforementioned SF big timers also uses Miele if that's important to you. I started with Persil but it was a PITA to find so I just use 7th generation HE powder because it has a very short ingredient list and use about half the recommended amount.
