Noticed some shoes from Sutor on sale over there...large discounts as well. What do folks think about Sutor? Is it a good deal at this price?

Thanks.

Also, any opinions on the Pirelli shoe line?

Is this (Pirelli) the same company that makes car tires? I guess their rubber-soled shoes, at least, should be OK. Maybe you can run really fast in them!

As for Sutor Mantellassi, I think Jcusey (who is the guy we need an opinion from) would rate them highly, and I know that Lance would. I have one pair of them, and think very highly of them. STP's prices are very good for this level of quality, but Lance's prices are generally better, though he may not have your size. However, be sure to check first. I sense that the consensus may be that Sutor Mantellassi occupy the high-middle ground in Italian shoes--at about the same level as Santoni (and both companies offer several lines differing in quality, although no line is low quality), a. Testoni, and perhaps StefanoBi, above, perhaps, Martegani, Borgioli, Gravati, and Ferragamo, say, but short of the top lines like Lattanzi, Scafora, Stefano Branchini (Jcusey won't agree with this latter!), and the smaller cordwainers like Stefano Bemer. If STP are selling Sutor Mantellassis that normally retail in the $700-$900 range, these are really wonderful shoes, and if you're getting 40%-50% off, it's hard not to see this as extremely good value for money. But again, check Lance's out first (link below), because he may have the same shoe in your size, and, if he does, you'll get it for less from him.

Sutor's top line is exceptional, I'd say. The blake-stitched ones less so. But even the blake-stitched shoes are often a very good deal at STP prices.

Nice pickup, Mr. Monty! Though I don't own any, I've found Pirellis to fit quite nicely whenever I've tried them on. I'd also advise against paying retail for them since my perception is that they often end up discounted. Note: edited for spelling

Excellent advice which can be applied to most all commodities, short of bespoke.
