Have you ever felt that you are restricted in your conversation when it comes to certain subjects when you are around certain people?
I just listened to this which is Dr. Schlessinger saying the n-word on air in reference to how black comedians talk on HBO.
I thought it was funny because a couple of my peers are hypersensitive when I mention ANYTHING about race. They defend asians, blacks, jews, anybody, really, even though they are white anglo-saxon protestants. I'm asian myself and they protect other asians when I preface things with : "most asians think...etc". Then they start accusing me of being racist etc.
I know that we are individuals, but there IS a certain cultural upbringing that manifests into certain common behaviors. Most traditional asian families take their shoes off in the home...it's not racist to say that, is it? I just feel that people need to lighten up and be open to DISCUSSION. I'm not spewing racial epitaphs or pantomiming stereotypical minorities (well maybe sometimes in private), so why get so stuck up about it?
People should not be color blind. We should accept differences and learn from them. We are not all the same, but we can all coexist.
